Google is working to make Google TV the central place for all your entertainment. They envision it as much more than just a TV screen – they want it to be a hub powered by artificial intelligence.
Over the next few months, Google will be integrating Gemini more deeply into Google TV and Android TV. This update will make the platforms more interactive and helpful, letting you easily search the web and chat with an AI assistant directly on your TV.

Gemini on Google TV is getting an upgrade: it can now answer your questions with pictures, videos, text, and lists, giving you more helpful information. For example, if you’re looking for a funny movie with a specific type of actor, Gemini can search across streaming services and suggest the best choices.
Instead of endlessly browsing for something to watch, Gemini will suggest shows and movies based on your mood and what you’re looking for. It’s designed to be a smart TV guide within the platform.

Okay, so Google knows using these platforms can be a bit clunky sometimes, and they’re trying to make things easier with pointer remotes. Basically, if you’ve never used one, it’s like having a mouse cursor for your TV screen. You just move it around and click on things – way simpler than trying to navigate with a regular remote!
Google is encouraging developers to add support for pointer remotes to their apps and get ready for this new way of interacting. They’ll provide tools – APIs – that let developers create special features like hovering tools for icons and tabs, and customize how apps behave when a pointer remote is used.
The company states that apps already created using Jetpack Compose will be simpler to adapt for pointer remote control. Developers can try out these features by connecting a regular Bluetooth or wired mouse to their Google TV.
Google is introducing a new “Pointer Remote” feature in the Play Store to highlight apps that work with it. This change aims to improve the overall experience within the Google ecosystem.
The Play Store is getting a big update! The company just revealed a redesigned look, the addition of Google’s Gemini AI, and support for short videos.
