Forza Horizon 6 is incredibly popular, but it has some flaws. One issue is that the Car Meets feature isn’t working as intended – despite a huge player base, it’s difficult to actually get a full group together. The game launched on Xbox Series and PC, quickly attracting hundreds of thousands of players to its virtual Tokyo, but that hasn’t solved the problem of empty Car Meets.
Since its early access launch on May 15th, Forza Horizon 6 has been incredibly popular, and that popularity surged even further with the full release on May 19th. Players and critics alike are loving the game, especially features fans have wanted for years – like the new Tokyo location. It’s no surprise Horizon 6 is currently the most-played game. However, Playground Games will likely need to address and improve some game features to ensure they work as intended.
Forza Horizon 6 Car Meets Are Devoid of Players, Need a Rework
Although the lack of pedestrians was known to be an issue for Car Meets in Forza Horizon 6 – areas where players showcase their cars – the biggest problem turned out to be something much simpler. Car Meets don’t have their own matchmaking system. This means if no one on a server has joined the specific Car Meet location you visit, it will be completely empty. With three dedicated Car Meet spots scattered around the map, it’s incredibly unlikely that enough players will randomly gather at the same one at the same time. Consequently, Car Meets are almost always deserted.
A few days before the release of Forza Horizon 6, players discussed a frustrating issue on Reddit. They hoped a larger player base after the May 19th launch would fix it, but the problem wasn’t a lack of people playing – it was that the game didn’t effectively bring everyone together. Players were scattered across customizable homes, three separate Car Meet locations, and various in-game events like races and mini-games. To make Car Meets truly successful, they need to be much easier to join and participate in.

Car Meets in the game only really work if players are already part of a group and chatting with each other. This kind of misses the point, though – the idea is to stumble upon other players and see their customized cars without having to specifically search for them. Luckily, the other new features in Forza Horizon 6 are much more successful, especially the addition of used aftermarket cars, which players really seem to enjoy.
Without help from Playground Games, Car Meets will likely remain empty. The idea that players might eventually find them after finishing other activities in Forza Horizon 6 – like discovering the Daikoku location – is probably unrealistic. Forza Horizon 6’s seasonal events are just beginning, meaning players will have plenty to do for a long time, so they won’t be seeking out Car Meets anytime soon.
