Frontier Legends, a new Western game that feels similar to Red Dead, will be available on Steam Early Access starting May 29th. Developed by the indie team at Neojac Entertainment, it’s a great option for Red Dead fans on Steam who are hoping for the next installment in the series.
Rockstar’s Red Dead games have become the benchmark for all other Western-themed games, particularly those with open worlds. Since Rockstar doesn’t release games very often—it’s been eight years since their last Western—players often search for games similar to Red Dead Redemption 2 that can offer a comparable experience.

Neojac Entertainment announced that their open-world Western adventure game, Frontier Legends, will launch into Early Access on May 29th. In the game, players start as newcomers to the Wild West and must learn to survive in a harsh and dangerous environment. They can build and develop their own towns, defend against bandits, make friends with the local population, and generally live out their Western dreams. The game also features online co-op, letting players experience the West together.

It’s easy to compare this game visually to Red Dead Redemption 2, but that’s inevitable for any Western game released today. While Neojac Entertainment may not have the same budget as Rockstar, they’ve clearly put a lot of effort into building a detailed game world. What we’ve seen so far suggests it’s a convincing and immersive take on the Old West that many players will enjoy.
The developers of Frontier Legends expect the game to be in Early Access for most of the year, though the exact length will depend on player feedback and necessary changes. The Early Access release on May 29th will include a lot of features, with plans to add even more – like new combat moves, maps, and mod support. They want to use the Early Access period to work closely with the community and shape the game’s future development based on what players want.
