How to Reach Western Wilds Secret Chest in Mina the Hollower

In the Western Wilds, near the Occupied Bridge in Mina the Hollower, there’s a hidden pond Mina can dig into to reach a Secret Passage. Inside, you’ll find a locked chest containing a helpful Joule box, but you’ll need a specific tool to open it. Here’s how to get that chest in Mina the Hollower.

Before you can get the weapon needed to reach the chest in the Secret Passage, make sure you have an extra Kear – that’s what keys are called in Mina the Hollower. You might already have some, but you can buy more at the Kear Institute in the center of Ossex City. The first one costs only 300 Bones, but each additional Kear will cost more.

What Do You Need to Reach the Chest in the Western Wilds Secret Passage (Occupied Bridge)?

Deflector Parasol Location

To cross the large gap in the Secret Passage, you’ll need to find the Deflector Parasol Sidearm. It’s a yellow umbrella that Mina can use to either throw at enemies or glide over gaps. We’ve discovered one place where you can find it early, and we’ll show you exactly where it is.

The sign just south of Ossex town’s entrance will point you towards the Queensbury Crypt, saying it’s to the east. You don’t need to go all the way there, though – just head generally east until you spot a cave opening. You can get there easily by using the purple bouncy pads.

Go inside the cave and head towards the exit on the right. After you leave, take a few steps forward and look for some candles you can break – you’ll find the Deflector Parasol there. When you have it, you can throw it by pressing Y on Xbox, X on Switch, or Triangle on PS5. Holding the button instead will let you use it to float across gaps.

Return the Deflector Parasol to the hidden entrance in the Western Wilds. Use it to cross the gap and open the chest – inside, you’ll find a Joule Box upgrade that lets your Sidearm be used more often by increasing your maximum energy.
