The latest findings indicate that imported Nintendo Switch 2 consoles made in China could be subjected to a 145% tax on imports to the U.S., according to the current tariff regulations.
Nintendo Switch 2s From China Could Face 145% US Tariff
According to Nikkei Asia, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and other video game consoles produced in China may suffer due to the ongoing trade dispute between the world’s largest economies – the United States and China. They’ve examined an internal evaluation document from a significant supplier of Apple and Nintendo, and it appears that Nintendo’s forthcoming console might face challenges.
The memo indicates that video game consoles produced in China will continue to be subjected to a 145% US import tax for Chinese-made goods, potentially causing significant financial losses for products like the Nintendo Switch 2. To evaluate this possible effect on the U.S. market and make informed decisions, the company chose to postpone pre-orders.
According to the report, most of the Nintendo Switch 2 consoles are manufactured in China, with a smaller number produced in Vietnam. This production setup might make it challenging for the company to navigate these circumstances. It’s possible that this is why pre-orders for the new console have been unexpectedly delayed in Canada. At present, however, there’s no official statement from Nintendo on the matter.
