Summary
- Switch 2 pre-orders start April 24, 2025.

- Game prices stay the same, but prices may shift based on market conditions.
In light of Nintendo announcing earlier this month that the release of pre-orders for Switch 2 was being pushed back because of tariff issues, they have unveiled the rescheduled date along with some crucial details today.
As announced by Nintendo, the pre-order for the upcoming Switch 2 will begin on April 24, 2025. So, mark your calendars, because you’ll have an opportunity to reserve one starting next week!
Nintendo Switch 2 Pricing Information Has Good And Bad News
It’s been verified that any tariff impacts won’t affect the selling price of the Nintendo Switch 2, which will continue to retail for $449.99. Similarly, the Nintendo Switch 2 with Mario Kart World bundle will keep its original price tag of $499.99.
The cost for both the tangible and online editions of Mario Kart World ($79.99) and Donkey Kong Bananza ($69.99) won’t be reduced, disappointing fans who were anticipating a decrease in Nintendo’s new $80 price tag for their games.
It’s unfortunate to report that, following some changes in market circumstances, Nintendo has disclosed plans to revise the prices for Switch 2 accessories, as initially announced on April 2. The company didn’t provide exact details about the extent of these price hikes, but they may modify the pricing of any future Nintendo products based on market conditions as well.
Considering the economy’s current situation and Trump’s practice of imposing and lifting tariffs swiftly, it’s not unexpected to witness an uptick in the price of Switch 2 consoles. However, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this is a pessimistic projection and one we won’t encounter throughout the console’s lifetime.
As the price of the PS5 console rises following its launch, it wouldn’t be surprising if Nintendo were to alter the price of the Switch 2, should they perceive that the market justifies such a move.
Should you be considering a pre-order for the Switch 2 next week, here’s to hoping you get one—given the recent buzz hinting at scarce GameStop inventory for the device.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will launch worldwide on June 5, 2025.
