The game titled Splitgate 2 is a continuation from its predecessor, which was likened to both Halo and the Portal series. Released in full on Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in 2019, the original game gained popularity enough to be included among the top multiplayer games of 2021 alongside titles such as Call of Duty: Vanguard, Age of Empires 4, and Riders Republic.

Excited players can add the game to their wishlist across various platforms such as PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Epic Games storefronts in anticipation of the Open Beta’s launch. As previously hinted, Splitgate 2 is set to introduce a wealth of additional content during the Open Beta, with enhancements in gunplay, movement, and portal functionality. True to their word, the trailer revealed that the Open Beta will offer over 25 unique weapons, more than 10 diverse game modes, and over 15 “endless” maps for players to explore.

The Open Alpha for Splitgate 2, which kicked off on February 27, received overwhelmingly positive responses, with numerous players expressing that the game seemed ready for release straight away. The Open Beta trailer also received a hearty welcome, with YouTube viewers praising it as “a work of perfection in progress.” One YouTuber even mentioned that they needed this Open Beta to recover from their dissatisfaction with playing Marathon, and another fan predicted that Splitgate 2 would serve as a beacon of light in the currently challenging gaming landscape. Additionally, fans have requested in their constructive feedback for the Map Editor to include an option for adding color this time around.
Before its official release in 2025, the sequel to Splitgate, titled Splitgate 2, has already revealed the diverse factions that will inhabit the game world. These include Sabrask, a group of brutal warriors, Meridian, hailing from Venus, and Aeros, an Earth-based faction. Players participating in the Open Alpha have expressed enjoyment with the Firecracker mode, reminiscent of Call of Duty’s Search and Destroy, as well as the hardcore mode.
