As a big fan of ARC Raiders, I’m really excited to hear that Embark Studios is looking at ways to shake things up! They’ve confirmed they’re testing different team sizes, and it sounds like they’re thinking about letting us tackle challenges with even bigger groups. It’s great to know they’re not resting on their laurels after the August 2025 launch and are planning some major changes to keep the game fresh and interesting. Embark Studios Is Experimenting with Larger ARC Raiders Group Sizes
Embark has been consistently updating ARC Raiders, and they have even bigger plans for the future. Currently, the game supports teams of up to three players, but Executive Producer Aleksander Grøndal recently told ScreenRant that the team is testing larger group sizes. While nothing is confirmed yet, Grøndal explained that they’re always looking for ways to add new challenges that encourage players to think and strategize in fresh ways.

Players are currently guessing what this change means for the game. It could be as simple as allowing squads of four or five players, which might affect game balance. Or, it could lead to the long-awaited addition of a PvE mode, like a raid or boss battle against a powerful ARC unit – a feature reminiscent of earlier versions of ARC Raiders. Regardless, the developers emphasize that ARC Raiders is designed to be a flexible game with many playstyles, and they want to maintain that freedom even with changes to squad size.
This announcement is one step in an ongoing plan to improve ARC Raiders. Earlier this month, Embark Studios revealed they’re using regional pricing for the game – meaning the cost will vary depending on the location, instead of simply converting a fixed price into different currencies.

The biggest update from Embark is that ARC Raiders will shift from monthly content updates to two major releases each year. The previous monthly schedule wasn’t sustainable for the team. To deliver on their vision for the game, these new updates will be much larger – October’s “Frozen Trail” is already the biggest release so far. Alongside these major updates, a dedicated team will continue to provide patches, in-game events, and smaller additions, such as the new endgame Trader launching this month.
