A player of Battlefield 6 thinks the game has secretly made sniper rifles less effective, causing even accurate shots to miss if the player isn’t using the Recon class. Battlefield 6 launched on October 10, 2025, and is now available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Unlike previous *Battlefield* games which limited weapons to specific classes, *Battlefield 6* offers both open and closed weapon systems. *Battlefield 2042* first introduced the option to use any weapon with any class, a change that proved divisive among players—some preferred the older, class-based system. *Battlefield 6* addresses this by letting players choose between playlists that use either the open or closed weapon system, accommodating both preferences.
Battlefield 6’s Sniper Rifles Have Been Nerfed
Streamer StodehTV shared a video on Twitter showing them practicing with a sniper rifle in *Battlefield 6*. The video shows StodehTV repeatedly trying to hit a target, missing twice even with seemingly perfect aim. They finally hit the target on their third try, using the same aiming technique each time. StodehTV claims that in *Battlefield 6*, sniper shots can randomly miss if the player isn’t playing as the Recon class.
StodehTV pointed out that sniper rifles didn’t behave this way during the *Battlefield 6* beta, implying the change was made quietly before the game officially launched. Players reacted with mixed opinions. Some felt the change undermined the game’s weapon system, causing even skilled players to miss shots based on their class selection. Others argued the adjustment made choosing the Recon class more meaningful, as it’s the only role naturally suited for sniper rifles.
I’m really curious to see how the developers address the feedback everyone’s been giving, but right now, if you want to be a good sniper in *Battlefield 6*, it looks like you’ll probably want to pick the Recon class at the beginning of the game. Even with a few issues, I’m still feeling pretty good about where *Battlefield 6* is headed – a lot of us fans are!
