Boruto: 8 Justu That Should Be Considered God-Level Shinjutsu

The Naruto series was known for its diverse range of jutsu, but Boruto expanded on this with Shinjutsu – incredibly powerful techniques that are almost god-like. Some Shinjutsu can even control the minds of everyone on Earth, while others can deflect any attack. Abilities like seeing the future, changing size, and creating pocket dimensions are also examples. Interestingly, some of the strongest jutsu from Naruto could potentially be considered Shinjutsu as well.

Shinjutsu are usually similar to ninjutsu, though some genjutsu also qualify. These techniques can be incredibly powerful – some directly impact the deceased, while others could obliterate an entire village instantly. Notably, one genjutsu shares the world-altering potential of established Shinjutsu.

8. Kotoamatsukami

  • Users: Shisui Uchiha, Danzo Shimura

Kotoamatsukami is a powerful illusion technique that can only be performed by someone who has awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan. It was a key ability that made Shisui Uchiha a strong contender to become Hokage. Even Itachi, a master of illusions, considered Kotoamatsukami to be an exceptionally advanced genjutsu.

Kotoamatsukami allows the user to secretly enter someone’s mind if that person is visible. Once inside, the user can create false experiences, subtly controlling the target’s thoughts and actions. The target will believe these actions are their own free choices. This ability is incredibly powerful, capable of forcing someone to do anything – even surrender or offer themselves as a sacrifice. While normally usable only once every ten years, when wielded by an Otsutsuki, its power as a Shinjutsu allows for repeated use.

7. Amenotejikara

  • User: Sasuke Uchiha

I’ve always thought Sasuke was incredibly powerful, and a big part of that comes down to his Rinnegan. Specifically, his ability called Amenotejikara is really something. It’s a space-time technique that, while seemingly straightforward, is easily as useful as Code’s Shinjutsu, the Claw Mark. Honestly, in a fight, I’d even argue it’s better than the Claw Mark.

Amenotejikara lets the user instantly switch places with anything around them, including people. This ability can be used to avoid attacks or redirect them onto opponents – making enemies hit themselves with their own projectiles. The user can even move others besides just themselves. For instance, in a fight against multiple opponents, they could force the enemies to collide with their own attacks at the last second. Because there doesn’t appear to be a defense against this swap, and it works on powerful beings like the Otsutsuki, some consider it a special sensory technique.

6. All-Killing Ash Bones

  • Users: Kaguya Otsutsuki, Black Zetsu

All-Killing Ash Bones is a special ability unique to Kaguya Otsutsuki, and a major factor in why she’s considered one of the most powerful villains in Shonen anime. Like Kimimaro’s ability to control his bones, she can fully manipulate her skeletal structure. However, her power is far greater, arguably strong enough to be considered a different type of jutsu altogether.

The All-Killing Ash Bones technique is instantly fatal if it hits. The user strengthens their bones, causing them to burst out from their body. These bones can be fired as projectiles or used in close combat. Either way, any penetration results in complete disintegration of the target, leaving only dust behind.

5. Gedo Art Of Rinne Rebirth

  • Users: Nagato, Obito Uchiha

The Gedo Art of Rinne Rebirth is a powerful technique that allows someone to be reborn, but it can only be used by those with the Rinnegan’s Outer Path – the ability to control life and death. Nagato used this Path to animate and control six corpses, forming the Six Paths of Pain. While incredibly potent, using the Gedo Art of Rinne Rebirth requires the user to sacrifice their own life. Because of its immense power and cost, it’s considered a forbidden, advanced technique, particularly if used by someone with good intentions.

The Gedo Art of Rinne Rebirth is a powerful technique capable of reviving a single person, as seen when Madara was brought back to life during the Fourth Great Ninja War. Nagato used this jutsu to revive hundreds of people he had killed during his attack on the Hidden Leaf Village. The technique appears to have no limitations, able to revive individuals regardless of how long they’ve been dead. For a supremely powerful being like Shibai Otsutsuki, using the Gedo Art of Rinne Rebirth might not even require a sacrifice.

4. Reanimation Jutsu

  • Users: Tobirama Senju, Orochimaru, Kabuto Yakushi

Although often linked to Orochimaru and Kabuto, the Reanimation Jutsu was actually invented by Tobirama Senju, the Second Hokage of the Leaf Village. This makes it an incredibly powerful technique used by leaders in the world of Naruto. This forbidden jutsu allows users to revive deceased ninjas, provided they have access to the ninja’s DNA. However, it requires a living person to serve as a host for the revived ninja’s spirit.

The Reanimation Jutsu is incredibly strong because it brings back ninja with endless chakra and bodies that can constantly heal, no matter how much they’re hurt. The only ways to truly stop a reanimated ninja are with advanced sealing techniques or special orbs that can destroy anything. Being able to summon an army of the dead and control them without any cost to the user feels like a power reserved for the most powerful abilities.

3. Izanagi

  • Users: Madara Uchiha, Danzo Shimura, Obito Uchiha

Although not the most dangerous, Izanagi is a remarkably powerful technique in the world of Naruto. Unlike most jutsu that target a single person, Izanagi affects reality itself. It’s a forbidden technique from the Uchiha clan, surprisingly only needing a standard Sharingan to use. The reason it’s forbidden isn’t its power, but the permanent blindness it causes in the eye used to cast it.

Izanagi is an incredibly powerful technique that can protect a user from harm, even death. We see this in action during the Five Kage Summit, where Danzo repeatedly used Izanagi to defend against Sasuke’s attacks. Similarly, Obito relied on Izanagi to survive his fight with Konan. Because the ability to alter reality is usually reserved for divine beings, it makes sense that Izanagi is classified as a rare and potent Shinjutsu.

2. Almighty Push

  • User: Nagato

The Deva Path, a power unlocked through the Rinnegan, lets users control gravity. This allows them to pull things towards them or push them away. Its most powerful technique, called Almighty Push, is considered one of the strongest abilities in the entire Naruto series. It creates a huge force that pushes things away, and is mainly used for defense.

Almighty Push is a powerful technique that can deflect both close-range and long-range attacks, even those that have already hit the user, such as Amaterasu. Its strength is directly tied to how much chakra is used; Nagato demonstrated it could level an entire village like the Hidden Leaf with enough power. Because of its incredible defensive and offensive capabilities, some consider Almighty Push a divine technique, known as a Shinjutsu.

1. Infinite Tsukuyomi

  • Users: Kaguya Otsutsuki, Madara Uchiha

Madara and Kaguya are considered two of the most powerful users of genjutsu in the Naruto series, mainly because they both cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi. This technique is often described as the strongest genjutsu ever created, and it demands immense power – specifically, the level of the Otsutsuki clan – along with a special Rinne Sharingan that can project its light onto the moon. Once activated, the Infinite Tsukuyomi’s light spreads across the entire world.

The Infinite Tsukuyomi is a powerful illusion that imprisons all living creatures – humans and animals – in a dream world. While trapped, they are encased in branches and slowly have their life energy taken to create Chakra Fruit. It seems only those with the Rinnegan or who have been reanimated are unaffected by the Infinite Tsukuyomi’s light. Because it impacts the entire world and has the potential to extinguish all life on a planet, the Infinite Tsukuyomi should be considered a divine technique, similar to other all-encompassing powers.
