Crypto is All Over the 2026 World Cup, Just Not as an Official FIFA Sponsor

Cryptocurrency is becoming increasingly influential in finance and politics, and now it’s also gaining traction in the world of sports. As the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches, companies are competing to become official sponsors of this major sporting event.

Currently, no cryptocurrency companies are official global partners or sponsors of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Instead, crypto-related activity is happening at the national level, through advertising, prediction markets, and FIFA’s own explorations of blockchain technology.

National Teams Carry the Crypto Sponsorship Story

As the tournament approaches, many sports federations are partnering with cryptocurrency and financial technology companies. Argentina is leading the way, with its Football Association (AFA) securing several sponsorship deals in these areas.

In September 2025, LBank became a regional sponsor of the Argentine National Team through a multi-year agreement. Along with this sponsorship, the cryptocurrency exchange introduced a $100 million reward fund.

In March 2026, Ant International, a company specializing in digital payments and financial technology, will become an official sponsor of the Argentine National Football Team throughout Asia.

The current FIFA World Cup Champions have partnered with a leading financial technology company, Ant International. This collaboration allows Ant International to use the Argentine Football Association’s branding and feature players from the national team in marketing campaigns for its products, including Alipay+, Antom, Bettr, and WorldFirst.

The following month, Nexo became the official digital asset partner for the region. BTCC, ATFX, and Deepcoin were also named regional partners. Socios.com will continue to be the only company authorized to create and distribute the $ARG fan token.

Chiliz/Socios.com has partnered with the governing bodies of many major sports teams, and they’ve created official digital fan tokens for various national teams.

One Prediction Market Makes The List

While major cryptocurrency companies didn’t become official sponsors of the FIFA World Cup, ADI Predictstreet secured a different type of partnership. They were chosen as the Official Prediction Market Partner for the 2026 tournament.

This partnership represents FIFA’s first official collaboration with a company specializing in sports predictions. ADI Predictstreet operates using the secure and reliable blockchain technology of ADI Chain.

Polymarket and Kalshi are still offering markets even without official FIFA licensing. Contracts predicting the winner of the World Cup are becoming increasingly popular on both platforms.

Ticket Giveaways, and More

Companies partnering with the World Cup, as well as cryptocurrency platforms, are launching special promotions to draw in new users and get people more involved.

Deepcoin also runs a “Champion Glory” campaign, offering fans things like autographed items, exclusive merchandise, tickets to games, and chances to watch matches with other fans, all connected to famous football players.

Crypto.com gave some Visa cardholders in Europe and Australia the opportunity to win a full FIFA World Cup 2026 experience, including top-tier match tickets, a five-night stay, and transportation to the games.

In addition to promotional campaigns run through exchanges, the TRUMP Coin project launched an exclusive program for its members. Currently, the biggest perk is a VIP package for the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final in New Jersey – it includes a private suite and is offered to the top 19 members based on a leaderboard ranking.

FIFA’s Own Crypto Play

FIFA is increasingly involved with blockchain technology. In May 2025, they revealed plans to create their own blockchain network using Avalanche. This new system, built as a foundational layer, will focus on digital collectibles and ways to connect with fans worldwide.

The digital collectibles platform, FIFA Collect, has also moved to the new blockchain. Additionally, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has repeatedly suggested the idea of creating a “FIFA Coin” or “FIFA Token.”

He first presented the idea in March 2025 at the White House Crypto Summit, and then discussed it again at the World Liberty Forum at Mar-a-Lago in February 2026.

While the 2026 World Cup doesn’t have a major cryptocurrency sponsor like FIFA previously had, crypto’s influence on football is growing beyond simple sponsorships. We’re seeing increased investment in blockchain technology within the sport itself, from teams like Argentina to FIFA’s own initiatives. The key now is whether this deeper involvement will truly connect with fans in the long run.
