Recent leaks have revealed details about three potential new Legend of Zelda games. While it’s probable that at least one of these leaks is inaccurate, each one sounds incredibly exciting. If even a portion of these rumors turn out to be true, fans are in for some fantastic new games in the coming years. It’s also worth noting that Tears of the Kingdom is already three years old, making the possibility of new announcements feel more realistic.
The most credible rumor about the next Legend of Zelda game claims a remake of Ocarina of Time is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 this holiday season. Another hint suggests Ganondorf will get his own 2D game, similar to the upcoming Echoes of Wisdom for Zelda. Finally, some early details have emerged about the next main Zelda adventure, which will follow Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
Travel to the Past to Save The Princess in Ocarina of Time in 2026 (Wisdom)
According to reliable leaker Nate the Hate, Nintendo’s major holiday game for the Switch 2 will be a remake of Ocarina of Time – a highly acclaimed title. While details are scarce, a reveal is likely to happen during Nintendo’s summer presentation if the rumor is true. Nate the Hate also previously predicted a new Star Fox game and the summer 2026 release of Splatoon Raiders, both of which turned out to be accurate. Fans are hoping Nate the Hate’s predictions continue to be correct with this latest claim.

Pursue Strength as Ganondorf in a New 2D Game in 2027 (Power)
While Nash Weedle isn’t as well-known as Nate the Hate, their predictions are still worth considering – especially compared to what you find from random people online. They believe that after the remake of Ocarina of Time comes out, Nintendo will announce a new 2D Zelda game planned for 2027. This game, developed by Nintendo and Grezzo, will likely use the same engine as Echoes of Wisdom and may even feature Ganondorf as the main character. It’s not a lot of detail, but the combination of Ocarina of Time and a new Ganondorf game could be a fantastic pairing, similar to how Tears of the Kingdom in 2023 and Echoes of Wisdom in 2024 complemented each other.
Tear Through Reality in the Next Legend of Zelda Open World Game in 2028 or Beyond (Courage)
The next major 3D Zelda game is in development, and it’s expected to build on the engine used for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, with some improvements. A reliable source, Spheshal Nick, has shared details, and his information is considered trustworthy. The game will take place in the same world as those previous titles, expanding Hyrule with new dimensions. Gameplay will involve traveling between these dimensions to solve puzzles – for example, using an action in one dimension to affect another, like hitting a target with a bull to open a door, or using water to flood a room.
During a conversation on the XboxEra Podcast, Nick shared information from a source about the next major Nintendo console. Jeff Grubb, while not having confirmed this himself, agreed it sounded plausible. Grubb estimated a release window of 2027-2029, which aligns with the timing of Tears of the Kingdom’s launch and Nintendo’s typical development schedule.

The Tri-Force of Zelda Game Leaks
Okay, so I’m taking all of this with a bit of skepticism, but it’s kinda cool how these Zelda rumors are lining up. We’ve got the Ocarina of Time remake supposedly hitting in 2026, then Ganondorf in 2027, and after that, a fully open-world Zelda game. It’s weird, because it doesn’t seem like these leaks are connected – it’s like Nash Weedle just happened to stumble onto the Ocarina of Time remake info. Honestly, I’m really hoping Nintendo confirms the Ocarina of Time remake soon. That wouldn’t automatically make these other Zelda rumors true, especially since they’re coming from different sources, but it would definitely make me think there’s something to it all.
As of today, we don’t know when or where this will be announced. Many people guess it will be at a Nintendo Direct in June, following events like Summer Game Fest and showcases from Xbox and PlayStation. However, Nintendo hasn’t confirmed anything yet.
