Every Stretch Goal for Temtem: Pioneers Explained

Following the successful launch of Temtem, Temtem: Showdown, and Temtem: Swarm, the developers at Crema are back on Kickstarter with a new game in the Temtem universe called Temtem: Pioneers. Just as Temtem: Swarm moved away from traditional monster-collecting gameplay with bullet hell elements, Temtem: Pioneers is primarily a survival game. However, Crema assures players that the core experience of finding, taming, and training monsters remains central to the gameplay. This time around, you’ll be able to use your Tems in new ways – as mounts, in battles against wild creatures and challenging bosses, and even to help gather resources.

There’s a lot to explore with Temtem: Pioneers, including its creatures, how it plays, and what the developers have planned. Even though the Kickstarter campaign is over, Crema is still letting people pledge to get the game or extra content. The game successfully met all seven of its Kickstarter stretch goals, which add everything from new areas to major features like a player-versus-player arena. Here’s a complete overview.

TemTem: Pioneers’ Confirmed Kickstarter Stretch Goals

The new Temtem introduced in Temtem: Pioneers are a key addition to the game. They strengthen what makes Temtem unique and replace the Digital Temtem that were previously available.

Most of the extra goals we’re aiming for with Kickstarter involve adding worthwhile content to the game.

  • Funding goal — 90,000 euros (around $105,000): This was the goal Crema set to get development underway, and it was reached in eight hours.
  • Crystal Biome (Stretch goal 1) — 140,000 euros (around $165,000): The first stretch goal adds a new biome to the game’s selection, which is the Crystal Biome. Specific encounters have not been disclosed so far, but they will most likely include a variety of Crystal-type Temtem.
  • Fossil Tems (Stretch goal 2) — 250,000 euros (around $294,000): This stretch goal adds a total of six new Temtem to Temtem: Pioneers, with three base fossil forms and one evolution each. It’s unclear what this will translate into yet, but Crema confirmed that it will be a quest chain that also unlocks a dungeon.
  • Improved Mount System (Stretch goal 3) — 300,000 euros (around $352,000): The third stretch goal for Temtem: Pioneers on Kickstarter adds new features to the mount system. This allows players to use mixed-terrain mounts and go faster on each terrain by training their mounts.
  • Dark Forest Biome (Stretch goal 4) — 350,000 euros (around $411,000): This stretch goal adds the second and final extra biome to the game, this time focused on a location for Mental-type Temtem. Like the first, it’s unclear exactly what it will contain, but early pictures show several returning Tems.
  • New Temtem Variations (Stretch goal 5) — 400,000 euros (around $470,000): The fifth stretch goal adds not one but two new color variations for each Temtem. If you’re familiar with shiny Pokemon, each Tem previously had a Luma color palette unique to that species, with Umbra being added as a universal variation. Now, Pioneers adds Auri and Iris variations, presumably always yellow/golden Tems for the former and iridescent for the latter.
  • Customizable Game Modes (Stretch goal 6) — 450,000 euros (around $529,000): This stretch goal will allow players to customize their servers and how their survival game plays overall, both for solo play and co-op.
  • PvP Playground (Stretch goal 7) — 500,000 euros (around $588,000): The final stretch goal was reached less than 24 hours from the conclusion of the campaign, and it will offer a PvP arena for players to test their Tems against those of other players in a mode similar to battle simulation in Pokemon Showdown.

Here’s a rundown of the game’s stretch goals: these seven are all we aimed for, and we successfully achieved them all – no additional goals were added, and none remain unfulfilled. While we didn’t discuss every possible feature during the campaign, we might still include some surprises in the final game or let dedicated fans test them out in an early alpha version. We’ve mostly teased the boss characters, but we can confirm Gharunder will definitely be one of them. Also, breeding will be back in the game, and it’s going to be much easier to use than it was in the first game, although we’ll reveal exactly how it works later.

Despite being quite different from the core Temtem experience – featuring real-time battles and survival elements – Temtem: Pioneers looks like a promising new game that builds on the popular Pokémonlike formula and expands the Temtem* universe. It could offer a fresh, yet enjoyable, take on the genre.
