How to Get and Use Lead in Subnautica 2

In Subnautica 2, different resources have varying levels of importance. Titanium is a versatile material used in many crafting recipes, while others, like Lead, have a more limited purpose. Specifically, Lead is key to building the Sonic Resonator, a crucial tool for mining and clearing Bloom Biofilm.

Lead is less common than Titanium, but that makes sense since it’s needed for fewer items. It’s still a useful resource to find, and unlike Sulfur, you don’t need to get special gear just to collect it.

Finding Lead

Lead is generally found to the northeast of the Lifepod. Unlike Titanium and Silver, which look crystalline, Lead has a more blocky appearance. You’ll begin to notice it about 200 meters from the Lifepod, mostly lying on the seafloor rather than inside caves. I personally found it more often around 250 meters away. Fortunately, because it’s usually in open areas, Lead is easier to see than Sulfur, as its colors stand out against the environment.

Okay, so I’ve been running around and noticed these big lead deposits, but my mining tools aren’t good enough for them yet. Turns out, I need a Sonic Resonator to get those, and to make the Resonator, I need lead! It’s a bit of a catch-22. So, I’ve been focusing on finding the smaller lead pieces just lying around, or using my Survival Multitool to break open the medium-sized ones. That’s how I’m getting lead for now!

Using Lead

Lead’s primary use is for crafting the Sonic Resonator, which requires:

  • 2 Lead
  • 2 Titanium Ingots
  • 1 Basic Battery
  • 1 Wiring Kit

As you progress, you’ll need Lead to make Germanium Ingots. It’s also an essential ingredient for Sugar of Saturn, which is used in recipes like Cherimoya Chutney and Pavlova. Since Sugar of Saturn appears in other cooking recipes too, using your Lead this way is a good investment for staying alive.

If you’re planning to do a lot of crafting, it’s a good idea to clear out your inventory before collecting Lead. This lets you gather extra and save it for later, so you won’t have to make multiple trips to get more.

While not essential, you’ll need some Lead for crafting advanced items. Having extra is helpful, as it can be turned into Sugar of Saturn for cooking. Fortunately, Lead is relatively easy to collect, so restocking your supply won’t be a major challenge. This is even easier with the Sonic Resonator, which helps you gather more from the larger Lead deposits in Subnautica 2.
