In Far Far West, you gain spell experience (XP) just by casting spells. You don’t need to aim at or defeat enemies – simply playing your magic cards will earn you XP each time. The quicker you can cast spells, the more XP you’ll earn overall. If you want to maximize your XP gains per game, here are a few tips to help you level up your spells quickly in Far Far West.
Best Ways to Level Up Spells in Far Far West
Because experience points (XP) depend on how often you cast spells during a match, your priority should be reducing spell cooldown times. You can lower cooldowns by focusing on these areas:
- The Spell Cooldown Reduction stat from the Hero Upgrade screen.
- The Battlemage Mythic Joker reduces all ongoing spell cooldowns by 1% every time you kill an enemy. This is especially good for high-difficulty missions on Very Hard or Nightmare modes, as there are tons more enemies to fight there.
- The West Wizard Mythic Joker gives you 30% Spell Cooldown Reduction at the cost of 30% less maximum health. This is good regardless of which difficulty you decide to jump into, but you’ll have to be more careful since you’ll be going in with less health than usual.
Using these items will significantly reduce your spell cooldowns by 42%, and you’ll get an extra 1% reduction each time you defeat an enemy while your spells are on cooldown. This will allow you to cast spells rapidly and consistently, earning experience points with each cast.
As a big fan of building out unique characters, I’ve run into a bit of a snag with Mythic Jokers. They take up four of your Joker slots, which is a significant commitment. If you’re eager to use both the Battlemage and West Wizard from the start, you’ll need to be at a pretty high Hero level. And honestly, it’s not cheap! Each of those Jokers costs 800 Souls, so you’re looking at needing at least 1600 Souls just to get the build up and running. But if you’re into a magic-focused playstyle, I think it’s totally worth the investment.
Spell XP Gains
During testing, I found two things:
- You get 200 XP for each spell category you have equipped just by casting a spell the first time in a match.
- Spell XP gains are related to the base cooldown of a spell. The longer the cooldown, the more XP you get.
You can actually gain spell experience quickly in Far Far West by casting a few spells at the start of a mission and then intentionally losing to enemies to end it. Another option is to use the Firebeam Pyro spell and let it defeat you after using your other spells. This whole process takes around 45 seconds, but it’s quite repetitive and dull, even though it works.
To quickly level up your spells in Far Far West, I suggest focusing on building a lot of Spell Cooldown Reduction and playing the game as you normally would. If you’re close to unlocking a new spell level, that method is still helpful. However, if you want to make the most progress overall – like earning more Fragments in Far Far West – the best approach is to play normally and frequently use your spells.
