In Nioh 3, Crucible Arts are special weapon skills. Unlike standard skills bought with Samurai and Ninja Points, you get Crucible Arts by finding and equipping Crucible Weapons. These weapons function like any other, but each one has a unique Crucible Art you can use while wielding it. Eventually, you can unlock the Arts themselves to use them with any weapon. Here’s how to unlock these powerful skills quickly in Nioh 3.
How to Get Crucible Skills in Nioh 3
Okay, so about those awesome weapon arts in Nioh 2 – they’re only on Crucible weapons. You get these by fighting yokai inside the Crucible realms. It’s easy to spot them in your inventory; they have a little flaming skull icon next to the weapon’s name. And when you check the weapon details, you’ll see a ‘Crucible Art’ listed right at the bottom of the info card. That’s how you know it’s got one!
Currently, the best way to earn Crucible weapons in Nioh 3 is by battling within Crucible realms. You’ll typically find these areas after completing key parts of the main story, like the “Crucible Manifested” quest where you fight Jakotsu-Baba in Hamamatsu Castle Town. Once you defeat a Crucible’s core, it disappears. To revisit and farm it again, go to a Shrine and use the Battle Scroll menu to replay the corresponding mission.
How to Unlock Crucible Arts Fast in Nioh 3
We’ve discovered that the fastest way to fully upgrade a weapon and unlock its special abilities is by replaying missions. The “Crucible Manifested” quest in Hamamatsu Castle is particularly helpful when you’re starting out, as the level is simple and filled with plenty of enemies to fight.
Generally, the best way to earn Familiarity is by replaying the hardest Battle Scroll mission you’ve unlocked. This will give you Familiarity, plus good gear and Amrita. If you’ve recently completed the early-game Crucible Manifested mission, a great next spot to farm is the Haunting Caves in Maisaka, which is part of the ‘Demon of the Haunting Caves’ Battle Scroll.
You can also quickly gain 150 Familiarity by using Whetstones. They’re somewhat uncommon, but you might find them as rewards when selling equipment at a Shrine.
