How to Use Air Vents (Gliding) in Lego Batman Legacy

One of the most fun things about playing LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is swinging through Gotham City using the grapple hook. It lets you quickly move over the busy streets and rooftops, and really makes the city feel huge as you soar past skyscrapers, bright lights, and ongoing crimes.

Because Batman can’t fly, gliding is a key way to move around quickly and surprise enemies from above. Here’s a guide to when and how you unlock and use this ability.

When Do You Unlock Gliding in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight?

You unlock the glider in LEGO Batman pretty early on. It becomes available during the first chapter’s WayneTech R&D mission, after you exit the building. The game will teach you how to glide by jumping from the top of a skyscraper – that’s when you can start using it.

To glide, simply press the X button on PlayStation or the A button on Xbox while you’re in the air. Once gliding, use the left stick to control your speed. You can also press down on the left stick (or the L3 button) for a quick speed boost while gliding.

Okay, so getting the glide ability totally changed how I play! Getting around Gotham is so much faster now – I can zip between areas and get to those emergency calls in seconds. And it’s not just speed, either. There are these air vents all over the city that seemed useless at first, but once you unlock gliding, you can fly right into them for a boost and keep soaring! It makes exploring so much more fun.

The glider isn’t just for Batman; other characters in the game can glide too.

A great way to keep your height is to use the grapple hook and gliding together. When you use the grapple, quickly press the X button (on PlayStation) or A button (on Xbox) to boost upwards and start gliding right away.

As you progress, you’ll unlock improvements for gliding. These let you quickly dive downwards and perform aerial takedowns – just press R1 on PlayStation or RB on Xbox while gliding to use them.
