Warhorse Studios has announced its next two games: a new installment in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance series and a large, open-world role-playing game set in the Lord of the Rings universe. The studio first gained recognition in 2018 with the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance, followed by its sequel in 2025. Before founding Warhorse Studios in 2011 with Martin Klíma, co-founder Daniel Vávra contributed as a designer and writer on the first two Mafia games.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance stood out for its realistic approach to open-world RPGs and its historical setting, though it had some technical problems. Its focus on realism was a point of contention – some players loved how immersive it was, while others found it distracting from the story. The 2025 sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, was even better received, with many considering it a significant step forward. Both games were expanded with additional story content, adding even more to the already substantial adventures.
New Kingdom Come and Lord of the Rings Games from Warhorse Studios

While rumors about the Lord of the Rings project had been circulating, this post officially confirmed the news. The announcement included a photo and a short message promising more details will be shared in the future.
The official announcement doesn’t mention “Lord of the Rings” by name. Instead, the game is described as an open-world RPG set in Middle-earth – the world of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. This suggests the game will feature a new, original story rather than retelling the events of the books or films. Another game in development is being called a “Kingdom Come” adventure, but it’s unclear if it’s a sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance or a separate spin-off.
