Latest LEGO Leak Means HUGE News for Pokemon Fans

More LEGO Pokemon sets are on the way! We’ve just gotten our first glimpse of one, the LEGO Pokemon Arcanine set, which is expected to be released in August.

We’ve heard rumors about a large wave of LEGO Pokémon sets for a while, and now we’re getting our first glimpse of the packaging. These sets will come in two varieties: a ‘Smart Play’ line and standard sets. This leaked image shows the box for one of the standard, non-‘Smart Play’ sets – a buildable Arcanine.

The LEGO Arcanine set has 1,190 pieces, making it larger than the LEGO Eevee (587 pieces) but smaller than the LEGO Pikachu (2,050 pieces) and the larger sets released earlier this year – Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise (6,838 pieces). This means the Arcanine model will be a reasonable size and won’t require as much building space or commitment as the very large, $650 Pokémon sets.

In addition to the number of pieces, sources say the LEGO Arcanine Pokémon set will be available starting August 1st for around $115. This news, along with a previous leak, is exciting for LEGO Pokémon fans, as it strongly suggests that two other leaked Pokémon sets will also be released.

A recent leak suggested that new versions of Munchlax, Rayquaza, and Arcanine are coming soon, and that none of them will use the ‘Smart Play’ feature. The leak claimed all three would be released on August 1st. Because the leak included all of these Pokémon together, it makes the information about Munchlax and Rayquaza seem quite reliable.

As a big Pokémon and LEGO fan, I have to say the leaked set choices are… interesting! We all expected Pikachu, and the final evolutions of the original starters just made sense. Eevee too – it’s basically the second face of Pokémon with those Let’s Go games. But Arcanine, Rayquaza, and especially Munchlax? Those really came out of left field! It doesn’t feel like LEGO is following any obvious themes after those first few sets, which is a bit of a surprise.

The Pokemon Company likely knows which Pokemon are the most popular, and these new LEGO sets might give us our first clues. However, it’s also possible the set choices are just based on chance. With so many Pokemon to choose from, it’s hard to avoid including someone’s beloved character.

We can probably expect more LEGO set details to surface soon. Leaks are usually quite accurate and follow a pattern: first, information like the set’s name and number appears, sometimes with the piece count and price. Then, images of the box or promotional artwork are revealed. Shortly after that, LEGO officially announces all the details – the price, release date, and number of pieces. The recent LEGO Legend of Zelda set followed this exact pattern.

We think we have a good idea of the LEGO Pokémon sets coming in 2026, but LEGO has only officially revealed three sets so far, and those came out a couple of months ago. Everything else we know is based on rumors and leaks. This includes plans for a line of sets that work with the ‘Smart Play’ system. Fans can expect sets like a Pikachu House and a detailed Mewtwo Lab diorama this summer, and it looks like LEGO has even more releases planned beyond that.
