The saying goes that imitation is the highest form of praise. However, the Hazakura drug isn’t a poor copy – it’s remarkably effective. Even an artificial version of what makes the most potent Yozakuras dangerous, a rare substance called Someinine, can be incredibly powerful.
The effectiveness of the Hazakura drug relies heavily on whether a person can handle it. Many test subjects used by the Tanpopo organization – the group responsible for creating and spreading the drug – couldn’t survive its core ingredient, Parasomeinine. However, some users have thrived, and these individuals have formed a powerful group of enhanced humans called the Nijibana, or Rainbow Flowers. While the Yozakura family manages to defeat them in a thrilling story arc of Mission: Yozakura Family, it’s a difficult battle. This time, though, we’re shifting focus from the Yozakuras to explore what makes these compatible Hazakura users so formidable, and to discover which one poses the greatest threat.
7. Aonuma
The Frozen Hazakura
- Real Name: Ryo Aoyanagi
- Status: Alive
- Combat Style: Cryogenesis
Aonuma is a powerful offensive fighter from the Hazakura clan, thanks to the Hazakura drug tree’s blossoms. He doesn’t have any unique abilities on his own, but he’s incredibly effective because he has an exceptionally high – 366 percent – compatibility with the drug, which fuels his strength.
Aonuma is a standout anime character thanks to his incredibly powerful ability, the Hazakura drug, which lets him control temperature. This power isn’t just brute force; it’s expressed beautifully through his control over ice and cold. In a fight, he can freeze enemies, build structures out of ice, and even create weapons from it. He also has the unique ability to change his body into a more fluid form, making him exceptionally agile in battle.
Aonuma’s abilities, boosted by Hazakura Blooming, allow him to fight several opponents and extend his icy attacks. However, even with these powers, he isn’t as strong as someone with true Yozakura blood. Despite being calm and capable, Aonuma ultimately loses to Kengo.
6. Ai
The Energetic Hazakura Human-Hound Hybrid
- Real Name: Unknown
- Status: Alive
- Combat Style: An Okami Chimera
Ai is the youngest and most unpredictable of the skilled Hazakura users, but she’s far from helpless. She can retaliate powerfully by partially transforming into the fearsome Okami dog. With a 310% compatibility with the Hazakura drug, she ranks as the sixth-strongest member of the Nijibana. Despite her cute appearance, Ai is one of anime’s most dangerous shapeshifters. Her sudden transformations into the Okami dog make her especially deadly. Initially, her body struggles with the Okami DNA, but she ultimately becomes a strong and fast fighter.
Ai has a special advantage in battle because she can partially transform into a dog. She can also defend herself by turning into a fluffy ball to cushion attacks. However, she gets easily upset and loses control if her friends are threatened.
Thanks to Mizuki’s sacrifice, and Nanao’s hidden talent as a powerful healer – something rarely seen in action anime – Ai’s body is finally adjusting to the Hazakura drug. While she now has a stable body and can even talk to dogs, Ai still needs to train and improve both her physical strength and her skills as a spy.

5. Cha-Cha
The Hazakura Hacker
- Real Name: Unknown
- Status: Alive
- Combat Style: Hacking and Systems Control
Cha-Cha is a unique hacker – he looks like a mutant fish and can break into any computer system with ease. While he has a surprisingly high tolerance for the Hazakura drug, his greatest strength is his incredible intelligence. This makes him a dangerous opponent for Shion Yozakura and a serious rival to the world’s best anime hackers.
Cha-Cha isn’t strong physically, but he’s incredibly smart and strategic, making him a difficult opponent. He compensates for his lack of strength by expertly using and controlling Tanpopo’s weapons and security systems. He can quickly understand and master any system he focuses on.
Like all computers, Cha-Cha has limitations that others can take advantage of. In the first season finale, Cha-Cha depends on the power supply of the facility to fight Shion. When the power is cut off, his ability to help the other Hazakura users weakens, and he ultimately loses a crucial mental battle in this popular spy anime.
4. Hakuja
The White Snake Hazakura Who Longed for the Sun
- Real Name: Yuki Shirai
- Status: Deceased
- Combat Style: Controllable Hair
Hakuja is a strong and kind character featured in the Steam Locomotive Gerbera storyline. She suffers from a serious illness, but a drug called Hazakura completely cures it. This drug also grants her a unique ability: she can control and use her hair as a weapon.
Hakuja fights using her incredibly long, white hair, which she can wield to bind, choke, and even impale enemies. Her movements are fluid and resemble a serpent. This hair also acts as a defense, protecting her from incoming attacks. As if that weren’t enough, Hakuja can even send messages using Morse code through individual strands of hair – all while actively fighting!
Hakuja is a compellingly tragic villain because her body is fatally weakened by the Hazakura drug. In her last moments, she finds peace with Taiyo, finally becoming the selfless person she always wanted to be, shedding her previous selfishness as she accepts her fate.
3. Mizuki
The Poisonous Hazakura Vaporwave
- Real Name: Unknown
- Status: Deceased
- Combat Style: Poison Gas
Driven by a thirst for revenge, Mizuki uses his incredibly high compatibility with the Hazakura drug to create widespread biological disruption. Similar to Nanao, he can control his body on a cellular level, but while Nanao strives to help, Mizuki actively wants to harm society, becoming a living representation of contamination.
Mizuki’s unique ability, triggered by Hazakura, lets him create a variety of poisonous gases. These range from harmless sleeping gas to extremely dangerous substances that can dissolve skin. He can release enough toxins to rival the deadliest poisons in anime, and even inject them directly into others using his hands.
Mizuki’s incredible power comes from the deep anger he feels towards the injustices he’s suffered. However, his actions aren’t motivated by hatred alone. Ultimately, Mizuki chooses to save Ai, the girl he sees as a daughter, even if it means sacrificing himself. In a final act of desperation, he uses his own blood to stabilize her, saving her life but losing his own.
2. Kurosawa
The Mercurial Hazakura Weapon
- Real Name: Yoshimasa Kuroda
- Status: Alive
- Combat Style: A Liquid Metal Body
Kurosawa isn’t quite one of the most powerful villains in anime, but he’s still incredibly dangerous and unpredictable. He’s a cold, efficient fighter who’s hard to defeat, especially considering his extremely high tolerance for the Hazakura drug and his naturally disturbed mind – a truly frightening combination in battle.
Honestly, watching Kurosawa is wild – he’s funny and totally unhinged all at once! But beneath the weirdness, he’s seriously dangerous. Being made of this unique, living metal gives him incredible abilities. He can literally become weapons – spikes, drills, shields, you name it! And get this – he can even split himself apart and attack from everywhere at once. It’s a pretty terrifying combination, really.
Kurosawa isn’t just one of the most evil anime characters—he’s incredibly difficult to defeat because he can regenerate. As long as his central core remains undamaged, he can fully recover from almost any attack. This makes him a formidable opponent, even for someone as skilled as Shinzo Yozakura, who’s known for his powerful weapons and marksmanship.
1. Akai
The Hazakura Torch
- Real Name: Miki Akasaka
- Status: Alive
- Combat Style: Pyrokinesis
Akai is an incredibly powerful fighter from Tanpopo, with an exceptional 512% compatibility with the Hazakura drug. She’s a master of pyrokinesis – the ability to control fire – and fights with a fierce, fiery spirit. Opponents don’t just feel the heat when facing her; she’s like a walking wall of flames. The Hazakura drug enhances her abilities, letting her create flammable gas and control her body temperature.
The drug Hazakura gives Akai the power to create and control incredibly powerful fire and heat, making fights against her feel like facing a major villain from an action anime. Despite being physically altered by Kawashita’s experiment – her body now includes parts from her deceased family – Akai is remarkably resilient and difficult to harm.
Despite her incredible power, Akai, even as a skilled Hazakura user, isn’t unbeatable. She can only heat her body up so much. However, she can choose to push herself to the limit and burst into flames. Her battle with Futaba clearly demonstrates both the strength and the limitations of this ability. Ultimately, what sets Akai apart as the most powerful Hazakura user is the sheer intensity of her fire – it’s unlike anything else. Once ignited, it can’t be put out and will burn until whatever it’s consuming is completely destroyed.
