My Hero Academia is now a hugely popular anime, and its official journey began on April 3, 2016. The main anime series, produced by Studio Bones, concluded on December 13, 2025, but it briefly returned with a special episode. Now, the story continues with an adaptation of a one-shot manga by Kohei Horikoshi, premiering on August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
My Hero Academia Special Episode “I am a Hero too” Screening Release Date Confirmed For August 1 and August 2
I’m a huge fan of My Hero Academia! It originally started airing back in 2016 and just wrapped up its incredible 8th season on December 13, 2025. But thankfully, it wasn’t gone for long! The anime came back on May 2, 2026, and they kicked things off with a special episode adapting chapter 431 of the manga. It was amazing to finally see Deku and Ochaco’s moment, and it was so cool seeing all the students grown up and working as Pro Heroes!
Immediately following the broadcast of the “More” special, Studio Bones announced a new special episode. Titled “I Am A Hero Too,” this episode will adapt another short story by Kohei Horikoshi.
The final episode of My Hero Academia, titled “I am a Hero Too!,” is officially scheduled to premiere on August 1st, 2026, with a second screening on August 2nd, 2026. Fans will need to purchase tickets and attend special character events to view the episode on either of these dates. Details about the locations and times for these events haven’t been announced yet, but the official My Hero Academia website promises more information will be available soon.
Final My Hero Academia Episode Will Be Available To Stream Globally On August 3, 2026
Most My Hero Academia fans won’t be able to see the character match-ups in person, as they’re happening only in Japan with limited tickets. Luckily, fans around the world can still watch “I Am A Hero Too” online starting the very next day.
The official My Hero Academia website announced today that the series finale, “I am a Hero Too!”, will be available to stream on August 3, 2026. While the specific streaming platforms haven’t been confirmed yet, it’s expected to be widely available, similar to the special episode “More”. Crunchyroll will almost certainly stream the final episode when it’s released.

Eri’s Captivating One-Shot Story is Set To Be Animated In August
The special episode “More” continues to focus on Deku, but “I Am My Hero Too” will be different. This episode is based on a one-shot story originally published in the My Hero Academia: Ultra Age: The Final Fan Book, which came out on May 2, 2025. Created by author Kohei Horikoshi, the fan book included answers to fan questions, character artwork, and an extra chapter featuring Eri, who has noticeably grown since we last saw her.
Eri went to UA High hoping to see Deku and his friends, but only found Eraser Head. The chapter shares that Eri has decided to focus on music, which many fans expected. Though brief, the story reveals some important details, including the new rankings for Pro Heroes. Deku has quickly climbed the ranks to become the fourth highest-rated Hero in Japan, thanks to his new Hero Suit, with Bakugo close behind at number five.
The next episodes of My Hero Academia might be shorter than usual, as the script is only five pages long. However, Studio Bones could add extra scenes specifically for the anime to create a complete episode. Even if it’s brief, fans will be thrilled to see the series back!
