New Final Fantasy 11 Update Makes The Game Worth Trying or Returning To

Square Enix has announced big changes to the free trial for Final Fantasy 11, a long-running online game. The update will make the trial experience more similar to that of Final Fantasy 14, hoping to attract both new players and those who used to play, and give them a good reason to return to the world of Vana’diel.

Since its release in 2002, Final Fantasy 11 has remained a popular choice for fans of MMORPGs. Even with the success of Final Fantasy 14, updates for Final Fantasy 11 continue to be released. Interestingly, the recent Echoes of Vana’diel raid series in Final Fantasy 14 has actually helped boost Final Fantasy 11’s popularity. Currently, three of its biggest servers – Asura, Odin, and Bahamut – are completely full, suggesting that Final Fantasy 11 will likely remain active for a long time to come.

Final Fantasy 11 Will Overhaul Its Free Trial

As a huge fan of Final Fantasy, I was so excited to hear about some big improvements coming to the free trial of Final Fantasy XI! Square Enix announced on their show, Freshly Picked Vana’diel, that they’re basically removing the time limit altogether – you’ll be able to play as much as you want! That’s awesome. And it doesn’t stop there – they’re raising the level cap from 50 to 75, which means we’ll get to experience a ton more of Vana’diel without hitting a wall. It’s great to see them taking inspiration from newer features, like the character race changes, and applying them to make the free trial even better. I can’t wait to jump back in!

The expanded free trial for Final Fantasy 11 will still have some limitations. Players will only have access to the original game content, meaning expansions like Chains of Promathia and Wings of the Goddess won’t be available. The Rise of the Zilart expansion is the exception, as it was released with the original Western version of the game. While Final Fantasy 11 has become easier to play solo, this improved free trial gives new players a chance to try out the core game before buying it.

For a limited time, Final Fantasy 11 players wanting to move beyond the free trial can get the Ultimate Collection Seekers Edition for under $10. It’s available for purchase from both the Square Enix Store and Steam, allowing players to buy it and save the game code until they’re ready to upgrade.

Final Fantasy 11’s Free Trial Takes Cues From Its Younger Sibling

The free trial for Final Fantasy 11 is now similar to the popular one offered for Final Fantasy 14. Currently, Final Fantasy 14‘s free trial is very comprehensive, letting players reach level 80 and play through a large portion of the game, including content from A Realm Reborn to the Shadowbringers expansion, with no time limits. However, free trial players can’t access all content, such as challenging Ultimate Raids and player-versus-player modes.

Square Enix hasn’t said when they’ll add more to the free trial, so players will need to stay tuned for updates. While the Final Fantasy 14 free trial already offers a lot of content – the original game plus three expansions – the improved free trial for Final Fantasy 11 will still be worth checking out.
