After the popular runs of Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia ended, Shonen Jump has seen a bit of a decrease in momentum. These two series were key to boosting the magazine’s popularity to new heights.
Both JJK and My Hero Academia are huge hits, having each sold over 100 million copies – a milestone reached by very few manga series. Because of this success, publisher Shueisha is actively searching for new manga with the potential to become equally popular, and Kagurabachi is one of the series they’re hoping will rise to the occasion.
Shonen Jump Is Teasing Kagurabachi Anime Announcement
On April 10, Shonen Jump shared a new teaser visual which had five unique items:
- Hawk
- Bullets
- Grimoire
- Goldfish
- A Ring Necklace
I noticed each item seems to represent a different anime series. The book, a Grimoire, is a clear reference to Black Clover, and the necklace with the ring probably belongs to Yuta Okkotsu from Jujutsu Kaisen. And then there’s the goldfish, which I recognize as being from Kagurabachi.
With new seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen and Black Clover already planned, the recent appearance of the ‘Goldfish’ symbol strongly suggests an anime announcement is coming soon.
While there’s no anime adaptation of Kagurabachi announced yet, many fans believe it’s time for one. The manga is gaining popularity, though it hasn’t reached the widespread recognition of series like Jujutsu Kaisen or My Hero Academia.
Creating an anime series could be a huge boost, particularly because it would likely make the manga even more popular.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Part 2 Could Announce A New Update
The first part of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 concluded in March 2026 and was highly praised as one of MAPPA’s best works. Fans are now wondering when the second part will arrive, with many believing it will be in 2027, though there’s been no official announcement. We might get details at the Shonen Jump Showcase. The next part of the series will continue the Culling Game storyline and promise even more exciting battles.
Besides news about Jujutsu Kaisen, the Shonen Jump Showcase will also share an update on Black Clover. We already know the Black Clover anime is coming back in 2025, and fans are hoping the Showcase will reveal a specific release date.
Kagurabachi is available to read on Shonen Jump+.
