New Steam Horror Game With 96% Rating is Like a Creepy First-Person Stardew Valley

Steam is getting another new horror game for players who enjoy the genre. Steam already has a huge selection of horror games – everything from major releases to smaller, more experimental indie titles. With so many different types of horror available, fans are sure to find something they’ll love on the platform.

It’s hard for new horror games to get noticed on Steam with so many options available. To succeed, they need to offer something truly different. Dread Fields does just that. This first-person horror game combines the relaxing gameplay of a farming simulator like Stardew Valley with a creepy, underlying mystery.

Dread Fields is a Horror Farming Game

In the game Dread Fields, you buy a house and small farm from a mysterious old man – a setup similar to Stardew Valley, where you inherit a farm from your grandfather. You’ll spend your time doing familiar farm tasks like milking cows, mowing the lawn, caring for a pet cat, gathering mushrooms, chopping wood, fishing, and growing crops. However, unlike Stardew Valley, which can be played for as long as you like, Dread Fields is designed to be completed in about an hour, though multiple endings give you reasons to play again.

The game intentionally uses graphics that resemble those from the mid-2000s, which really enhances its unsettling atmosphere. The developers are striving to create a feeling of loneliness and isolation, and the game appears to be succeeding. As a horror fan, I’m eager to see if Dread Fields can fully deliver on its promise, and the gameplay shown so far looks very encouraging.

The horror game Dread Fields comes out on Thursday, May 28th, but you can actually play a demo version right now on Steam! It’s a great way to see if you’ll like the full game, and Steam users have given the demo a very positive 96% approval rating. If you’re a horror fan looking for something new, Dread Fields seems like a solid choice.

If you enjoy Stardew Valley and are looking for a spooky game, Grave Seasons might be for you. It’s similar to Stardew Valley – you’ll farm and get to know the townspeople – but with a dark secret: one of them is a serial killer! Grave Seasons isn’t available until August 14th, so Dread Fields could be a good option to play in the meantime.
