PlayStation State of Play Announced For 2 June – Our Five Dream Announcements

Sony is holding a new PlayStation State of Play event on June 2nd, and it’s going to be a lengthy one! The showcase will last for over an hour and include updates on the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine game, plus announcements from various developers. We’ve also shared a list of five games we’re hoping they reveal.

Sony’s June State of Play presentation is happening during the peak of the summer gaming season. It will feature a lengthy look at gameplay from the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine, along with updates on other new games. The showcase will last for more than an hour and will be streamed live on June 2, 2026, at 10 PM British Summer Time or 11 PM South African Standard Time.

Five Dream Announcements For State of Play June 2026

PlayStation hasn’t revealed everything coming soon, so we’ve brainstormed five exciting announcements we’d love to see at their next State of Play presentation.

Anything From Square Enix

Square Enix hasn’t shared much news about popular franchises beyond Final Fantasy. We’re still waiting for updates on both Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate and Kingdom Hearts IV, even though they were announced quite a while ago. While we don’t expect them immediately, we’re hoping to hear something about Dragon Quest XII soon. And many fans would also love to see a new NieR game from Yoko Taro announced.

Marvel’s Venom

While Insomniac Games is likely focused on their upcoming Wolverine game, a small preview of the Venom spin-off – a game we know is in development following a large leak in 2023 – would be exciting. There’s a possibility the voice actor for Venom has changed since the unfortunate passing of Tony Todd, who voiced the character in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Plus, it’s been a while since the game was first rumored to be in the works.

Next From Software Game

It’s uncertain if FromSoftware will announce its next single-player game at events like State of Play, Summer Games Fest, or the Xbox Games Showcase. It’s even possible we won’t hear anything this summer, as the studio may prioritize promoting The Duskbloods, their exclusive game for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. For now, it’s just wishful thinking! We’ll have to wait and see if the rumors about a pirate-themed dark fantasy RPG are accurate.

Ghost of Yotei Expansion

Sucker Punch Productions hasn’t announced any downloadable content or expansions for their popular open-world game, Ghost of Yotei, yet. They wanted to see what players thought of the game first before deciding on future content. With strong sales and positive reviews, it’s clear players are enjoying the game. We’re hoping any future DLC for Yotei is as well-received as the Iki Island expansion was for Ghost of Tsushima.

God of War… Faye?

There’s also been talk of a new God of War game focusing on the character Faye. Over the past few months, reliable sources have suggested that director Cory Barlog is working on it, and it might explore different mythologies beyond Norse legends. While we don’t expect Santa Monica Studio to reveal the next major God of War game just yet, this potential spin-off is still generating a lot of buzz.
