Sony has announced Franchise Rewards, a program that gives players access to exclusive merchandise based on the in-game trophies they’ve earned. PlayStation is trying to make collecting trophies more worthwhile, and they’re launching the program with the popular game, *Ghost of Tsushima*.
Sucker Punch Productions, known for games like *Sly Cooper* and *Infamous*, really surprised players with *Ghost of Tsushima*. This game offered a vast, open-world experience set in Feudal Japan, reimagining the historical Mongol invasion with a unique story. *Ghost of Tsushima* became incredibly popular, and was later released on PS5 and PC, reaching even more players. Despite a new game in a similar style being planned, *Ghost of Tsushima* is now leading a new initiative from Sony.
PlayStation Franchise Rewards Starts With Ghost of Tsushima
Sony has announced a new program called Franchise Rewards, starting with the game *Ghost of Tsushima*. Players who earn specific in-game trophies will unlock access to exclusive merchandise. Currently, those who’ve unlocked the ‘Mono No Aware’ or ‘Living Legend’ trophies in *Ghost of Tsushima* can buy limited-edition items – a Jin Sakai mask pin and a Tsushima-inspired shirt – at the Ghost Rewards store.
Sony is growing its Franchise Rewards program, starting with *Ghost of Tsushima* and expanding to *Ghost of Yotei* later this year. While details are limited, this expansion comes as PlayStation Stars is ending, suggesting Franchise Rewards might be its replacement. If the program proves successful, we can expect to see even more PlayStation games included in the future.

The new program has received a mixed reaction, with many players disappointed that trophies only allow them to buy the rewards. While things might improve as the program develops, that’s how it currently works. Despite this, excitement remains high for Sucker Punch’s next game, *Ghost of Yotei*, which is launching on October 2nd.
