Niantic is launching a new set of quests for Pokémon GO focusing on the game’s three team leaders. Players who participate will earn rewards, unlock new features, and have special Pokémon encounters. Pokémon GO is a free-to-play game that’s constantly updated with new content, including seasons, events, and monthly activities like Community Day.
Beyond catching Pokémon in the world around you, Pokémon GO lets players join one of three teams: Team Instinct, Team Valor, or Team Mystic. Your team choice mainly affects the color of the gyms you battle for and who gives you advice when you evaluate your Pokémon. Each team has a different focus, and now Niantic is highlighting these differences with special, limited-time quests.
Pokemon GO Kicking Off Summer Quests in June
Okay, so Pokemon GO is doing a cool thing starting May 26th! They’re rolling out a bunch of limited-time quests, one each week, with some new rewards and Pokemon you can encounter. Each quest focuses on one of the Team Leaders – Candela, Blanche, or Spark – and lasts for a week before a new one starts. Basically, there’s a new quest dropping every week from May 26th until June 15th. Here’s the lowdown on what to expect.

Blanche’s Quest for Knowledge
Starting May 26th, Niantic is kicking off a week-long event in Pokémon GO focused on Field Research and Incense. Throughout the week, until June 1st, you’ll have a better chance of finding Squirtle, Alolan Vulpix, Krabby, Staryu, and Galarian Zigzagoon in the wild. Keep an eye out for rarer Pokémon too, as Lapras, Vaporeon, and Larvitar will also appear more frequently. This week’s event is led by Blanche, the leader of Team Mystic.
I’m so excited for this event! If you use an Incense during the event hours, you’ll see a lot more Cubone, Horsea, Lapras, Vaporeon, Larvitar, Sableye, Clamperl, and Cubchoo showing up. Plus, the Field Research tasks will give you chances to encounter all those Pokemon and Sinistea and Tandemaus! They’re even offering a special Pokemon GO Pass, with both free and paid options, that lets you level up and earn rewards. The best part? There’s a special Lapras encounter themed after Blanche, and it even comes with a Team Mystic background! It’s going to be awesome.
Spark’s Caretaking Quest
From June 2nd to 8th, Team Instinct will be celebrated in Pokémon GO with a special focus on hatching Eggs and finding new Pokémon. Keep an eye out for more Bulbasaur, Alolan Raichu, Drowzee, Jolteon, Dratini, Houndour, Lileep, and Combee appearing in the wild during this time!
Instead of adventures like the Mystic quests, Team Instinct in Pokémon GO will be concentrating on hatching eggs. During this event, players can hatch 7km eggs for a chance to find Pichu, Elekid, Shinx, Varoom, Galarian Corsola, and Hisuian Qwilfish. You can also complete Field Research tasks to encounter these Pokémon. Plus, Go Pass holders will have the opportunity to catch a special Elekid wearing a Spark-themed accessory and receive a Team Instinct background card.
Candela’s Quest for Victory
From June 9th to 15th, the focus will shift to battling with a special quest featuring Candela from Team Valor. During this time, you’ll have a greater chance of encountering Charmander, Mankey, Hisuian Growlithe, Machop, Ponyta, Scyther, Flareon, Slugma, and Fletchling in the wild, as well as increased raid activity.

Okay, so here’s the deal with what’s happening in the game right now. We’re seeing a lot more Hisuian Growlithe, Machamp, Scizor, Magcargo, Scraggy, Honedge, and Rockruff popping up in Raids. You’ll still find all the Pokémon from last week out in the wild too. Plus, if you’ve got a GO Pass, you can snag a special Ponyta wearing a Candela-themed accessory and it’ll even have a cool Team Valor background! It’s a pretty sweet bonus for those of us using the pass.
