2025’s Gamescom Opening Night Live brought a thrilling gameplay trailer for the post-apocalyptic MMO I’ve been eagerly awaiting – Cinder City, formerly known as Project LLL. Back in 2022, NCSoft unveiled Project LLL with a captivating trailer highlighting its gunplay and visuals. Since then, it’s been a wait for updates. Just this week, we learned that the game has officially been renamed Cinder City!
In simpler terms, “Cinder City” is an action-packed online multiplayer game that takes place in a future, post-apocalyptic Seoul, Korea. Developed using Unreal Engine 5, this game promises stunning visuals and seamless shooting mechanics, as seen in previous previews. The game also includes mech suits and different types of vehicles to enhance the gaming experience. While player versus player (PvP) could be an option, only player versus environment (PvE) battles have been displayed so far, suggesting that the main emphasis of the game might be on these battles.
Cinder City Gameplay Trailer At Gamescom ONL 2025
During Gamescom ONL 2025, NCSoft unveiled a fresh trailer for the upcoming game titled “Cinder City”. This sneak peek offered gamers another glimpse into the post-apocalyptic universe of the forthcoming title, along with some gameplay snippets from various parts of the game. The trailer showcased several battle scenes, such as new gunfights, hand-to-hand combat in mech suits, helicopter flights, and driving ground vehicles. While a release date for “Cinder City” was not mentioned in the trailer, it was confirmed that the game is being developed for both PC and major gaming consoles.
Moreover, the gameplay video hinted at a confrontation reminiscent of raid boss battles found in games like World of Warcraft. This showed a group of around 50 players piloting mechs, helicopters, and automobiles joining forces to battle an enormous Godzilla-like mech in an urban setting. It seems that the struggle was a joint effort by at least 10 players working towards one common goal, possibly promising substantial rewards. The exact nature of this fight (whether it’s a world boss or an instance) remains unclear, but given the trailer, it appears that upon release, Cinder City will introduce multiplayer boss fights.
Beyond the reveal of “Cinder City”, NCSoft unveiled another project titled “Time Takers” at Gamescom ONL. This new venture is a third-person, team-based hero shooter that incorporates time as both a survival element and an upgrading resource. While sharing the third-person shooting perspective, these two games differ significantly in their essence and scale. Fortunately, NCSoft boasts a rich history of successful MMO launches, with a diverse catalog encompassing games like “Guild Wars”, “Aion”, “Lineage”, and more.
