On August 20, Sony unexpectedly added “The Rogue Prince of Persia” to the collection offered by their PS Plus Extra subscription service. This month has been particularly active for Sony’s subscribers, with nine new games becoming available on PS Plus Extra and two additional titles joining the Premium tier.
Recently, games such as “Coral Island”, “Mortal Kombat 1”, “Sword of the Sea”, and “Spider-Man Remastered” were added to the PS Plus Extra subscription service. Although some anticipated that additional titles would not be added until September, fans were pleasantly surprised when another drop occurred in August.
PS Plus Extra Adds The Rogue Prince of Persia
Starting from August 20th, subscribers to PlayStation Plus Extra can now download “The Rogue Prince of Persia,” the latest release that’s arrived at version 1.0. This fresh spin-off is a 2D action roguelike platformer produced by Evil Empire, a studio famed for creating “Dead Cells,” one of the most acclaimed roguelike games in recent memory. “The Rogue Prince of Persia” has earned an average score of 81 on OpenCritic, and it boasts a Very Positive user review rating on Steam, where it debuted in early access back in May 2024.

Enthusiasts of roguelike games who are intrigued by the prospect of “The Persian Parkour Prince” will find familiar genre elements like randomly generated levels, challenging environmental obstacles, and a high degree of replay value. The game’s developer, Evil Empire, brings something unique to the table by integrating parkour as a key component, allowing players to scale most objects and use surrounding elements for navigation or evasion during enemy encounters.
For most PS Plus subscribers, hearing about a new Prince of Persia installment is certainly exciting. However, it’s important to note that several games have been removed from both the Extra and Premium tiers in August. Sadly, some popular titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and EA Sports UFC 5 are no longer available.
It’s yet to be determined if PS Plus Extra will surprise us with more announcements in August. Given that Gamescom is ongoing, it has demonstrated its ability to unveil unexpected disclosures, as evidenced by _The Rogue Prince of Persia_, which was featured during Xbox’s Gamescom stream and eventually included in both PlayStation Plus Extra and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions. This indicates there could potentially be more unsuspected inclusions yet to be revealed.
