Rainbow Six Siege Brings Back Fan Favorite Map and Major Rework for Year 11 Season 2

Ubisoft has announced all the details for the next season (Season 2) of Rainbow Six Siege, and the new map is inspired by a classic game from the Rainbow Six series. Despite a difficult period at the end of 2025 and beginning of 2026 due to a hacking attack, Rainbow Six Siege is having a strong eleventh year. After Season 1 concluded, Ubisoft has revealed that the new operation will launch on June 2nd.

Year 11 of Rainbow Six Siege began with an unexpected collaboration: the iconic Metal Gear series joined the game. The first season, called Operation Silent Hunt, introduced Solid Snake as a playable character. The reveal trailer playfully paired Snake with Rainbow Six Siege‘s stealth expert, Sam Fisher. To make it even more authentic, David Hayter, the original voice of Snake, returned to voice the character. Snake comes equipped with the Soliton Radar MKIII, which detects and highlights enemies, and the On-Site Procurement ability, letting him restock gadgets from fallen opponents. Now that Season 1 has finished, players are getting ready for the launch of Operation System Override.

Rainbow Six Siege Brings Back the Calypso Casino

At a major event in Salt Lake City, Ubisoft fully unveiled Operation System Override. They announced that Season 2 of Year 11 in Rainbow Six Siege will feature a new map: the Calypso Casino. This map is a reimagining of the popular Calypso Casino level from the original Rainbow Six Vegas, which later reappeared as a multiplayer level in Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Fans of the series should recognize it.

A major update coming to Rainbow Six Siege, called Operation System Override, includes a significant rework of the attacker Dokkaebi. Originally introduced in 2017 with Operation White Noise, Dokkaebi was already a powerful choice due to her ability to hack enemy phones and cameras, providing valuable information about their positions. The updated Dokkaebi replaces her Logic Bomb with the Jegeo Payload. This new gadget allows her to upload malware to an enemy player’s phone, which will vibrate and explode if not addressed quickly. The explosion deals 40 damage to the defender and creates a fire that can harm them or nearby teammates. The Jegeo Payload has been improved with more charges and a faster recharge time, though the malware’s effect lasts for a shorter period.

This season’s update includes a new Battle Pass and a powerful new weapon, the XK23 assault rifle, available for Dokkaebi, Sens, and Rauora. Players will also enjoy improved lighting and visuals on three maps: Emerald Plains, Kanal, and Outback. Ubisoft has also announced upcoming balance changes for several operators, with Gridlock’s Track Stingers getting a boost and Pulse, Mozzie, and Nomad receiving increased gadget range.

The future of Rainbow Six Siege is currently unknown, but the game shows no signs of losing popularity. Ubisoft has already proven its willingness to collaborate with other franchises, like the upcoming Attack on Titan crossover in 2025. During the game’s 10th anniversary celebration, creative director Alexander Karpazis and game director Joshua Mills hinted that the series’ origins lie in single-player experiences, and they believe it would be a mistake to limit these characters to just the Siege format. They suggest a return to single-player storytelling is a possibility.
