So far in 2026, the top-selling games in the US have been Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem and Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert. While these numbers are specifically for the US, they’re a good indicator of overall game sales because the US has a large gaming audience.
Resident Evil Requiem is the top-selling game of 2026 so far, according to Mat Piscatella of Circana. Capcom’s latest survival horror game has sold six million copies in under a month, making it the fastest-selling title in the Resident Evil series. Positive reviews and enthusiastic player feedback have driven its success.
Crimson Desert is a strong second, with over five million copies sold—though the actual number is likely even higher. The US market shows some differences, however; MLB The Show 26 came in third, followed by Pokemon Pokopia and WWE 2K26. While top games vary by country, it’s notable that this title is performing so well, close behind Resident Evil and Crimson Desert.
Let’s be realistic: whatever numbers we’re seeing now will likely seem small once Grand Theft Auto 6 comes out later this year. It’s already being called the most anticipated game launch ever – and it’s won awards for that anticipation – so it’s no surprise experts predict it will easily earn over $1 billion in revenue right away.
Many players are expecting Marvel’s Wolverine, a PlayStation 5 exclusive game, to be very popular. We’ll get a longer preview of how the game plays during the PlayStation State of Play event this June.
