Scream 7’s Massive Cast Has Me Convinced There Are Multiple Ghostfaces

Summary

  • Multiple legacy characters returning in Scream 7, including Dewey Riley, Stu Macher, and Gale Weathers.
  • Speculation of multiple Ghostface killers in Scream 7 with a large cast, introducing new suspense and unpredictability.
  • Roman Bridger as the only single Ghostface in Scream 3, sparking curiosity about the new Ghostface’s motive in Scream 7.

In Scream 7, my greatest expectation was to see Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) once more. However, the upcoming horror film took me by surprise as it brought back several other original characters. Now, David Arquette is returning with Dewey Riley, Matthew Lillard will reprise his quirky Stu Macher character, and I’m delighted that Courteney Cox’s witty and intelligent reporter Gale Weathers will also be part of the slasher narrative. Over the past few months, additional cast members have been announced, including Mark Consuelos from Live with Kelly and Mark.

With “Scream 7” having been in production since early 2025, one might assume that casting announcements would start to dwindle. However, quite the opposite is happening; more actors are joining the cast as either Ghostface or characters trying to evade them. As per Bloody Disgusting, “Jimmy Tatro and Michelle Randolph have been added to the cast of ‘Scream 7′”. Given the extensive roster of this film, it seems plausible that one theory about Ghostface could soon become a reality.

I Wonder If Scream 7’s Large Cast Means Three Or Four Ghostfaces

For a period, enthusiasts of the Scream series have speculated whether Scream 7 might involve a cult of Ghostface or multiple Ghostface killers. While I initially imagined there could be one or two Ghostfaces, with so many cast confirmations, it’s now clear to me that there will be more than just two Ghostface killers.

In my opinion, none of the old cast members seem to be the killer disguised as Ghostface, so they can be ruled out as suspects. On the other hand, there’s a possibility that some of the newcomers might be playing Ghostface, like Ethan Embry’s character, Anna Camp, or even younger actors such as Mckenna Grace. Although Scream 7 may have a high body count due to Mason Gooding mentioning it will be “gory,” not every new actor joining the movie is necessarily a victim. If four new characters are working together as Ghostface, there would still be plenty of other potential victims.

Given that Sidney and the other characters have a history of knowing each Ghostface, and sometimes having close relationships with them, it seems plausible to introduce multiple Ghostfaces this time around. Perhaps Sidney, now residing in a new small town, believes her neighbors, friends, and coworkers are trustworthy. However, she uncovers the fact that several individuals from her life have been stalking her all along, leaving her little time to react. Alternatively, she discovers that there are people within her children’s school whom she thought she knew well, but in reality, they remain strangers.

I’m quite intrigued by the idea of a diverse ensemble of fresh and seasoned characters taking on the role of Ghostface in the upcoming installment. While there have been instances of this setup before, such as in Scream 6 with Detective Wayne Bailey (Dermot Mulroney) and his children Ethan Landry (Jack Champion) and Quinn Bailey (Liana Liberato), it would still provide a fresh twist. Additionally, the concept of new Ghostfaces collaborating with one surviving previous Ghostface character seems plausible, given the trend of reviving deceased characters. With all the returning personalities in Scream 7, it’s not implausible to imagine that one of them has managed to survive this entire time. As fans express concerns about the potential messiness of Scream 7, introducing such a unique collaboration could be an exciting addition for viewers.

Has The Scream Franchise Ever Had One Ghostface?

In the “Scream” series, only the third movie features a single Ghostface killer – none other than Roman Bridger, who will reprise his role in “Scream 7.” Roman harbors resentment towards Sidney Prescott, not just because she’s his half-sibling, but also due to the fact that Maureen Prescott was his mother. He resents her happy family and successful life, which he feels he is lacking.

What makes this story intriguing is that Roman disguises himself as the director of “Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro,” a role that kept me guessing until the big reveal. It’s interesting to note that Roman has a career in Hollywood and seems unrelated to Sidney’s hometown, Woodsboro, California. However, despite appearances, his connection to her is far greater than fans initially realized.

Fans are speculating about the motive of the Ghostface in Scream 7, considering Roman’s recent return. Could the current or multiple Ghostfaces be linked to the original Scream movie? Given that Roman passed away previously, it seems improbable, but fans are eagerly awaiting more information.
