Subnautica 2 Interactive Map

Do you have Thalassophobia? Then what the hell are you doing here?

This map is a work in progress and is updated regularly

Subnautica 2 Beginner’s Guide

You begin each new game in a desperate situation – the air is toxic, and finding food could easily kill you. Here’s how to get started and stay alive.

Angel Comb

Angel Combs are uncommon creatures with a powerful ability: they can change your DNA, making you much more likely to survive and letting you access previously unreachable areas. Right after the opening sequence, once you exit the Life Pod, your priority should be finding another Angel Comb. This upgrade is crucial because it lets you safely digest food without getting poisoned.

Starting from the Lifepod, travel northeast to find the Angel Comb. Once you find it, use it to get an upgrade, then catch some fish before returning to the Lifepod to enjoy your meal.

Biomods

Next, head southwest from your Lifepod to the Welcome Center and use the Biolab inside. This lets you equip Biomods, which can significantly improve your movement. We suggest starting with Dash as your active Biomod and Sea Skimmer as your passive – they’ll help you move faster and use your oxygen more efficiently.

Scanner Tool

Once you’ve finished upgrading, your top priority should be building a Scanner. It lets you find blueprint pieces all over the map, which you’ll need to create better tools, equipment, and gather resources.

You’ll need two titanium, two quartz, and a basic battery to build the Scanner. You can find the materials pretty much anywhere, but getting a battery requires a little more effort. You can either locate one inside a supply crate or make your own. There’s a battery in a cave near the wreckage northwest of your Lifepod. Alternatively, you can craft a battery using two copper and one Acid Raion Pouch.
