Hulu has a really extensive anime collection, with tons of different series, especially popular shonen anime. With so many choices, it can be hard to know where to start, so we’ve put together a list of the best anime currently available on Hulu.
I’m telling you, if you’re an anime fan, especially of shonen, Hulu is a goldmine! You’ll seriously get so much out of a subscription. Honestly, it’s one of the very best places to stream anime right now.
20. Jujutsu Kaisen
Among recent action anime, Jujutsu Kaisen quickly became incredibly popular with fans, following the success of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. It’s considered one of the best shonen anime in recent years thanks to its exciting action and compelling story.
The anime follows Yuji Itadori, who becomes possessed by a powerful and dangerous villain after consuming one of his fingers. This event draws attention to him and forces him to join a team of sorcerers dedicated to protecting people. He’s given a crucial mission, but completing it might cost him his life.
19. Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
Frieren has quickly become a beloved character, captivating audiences and driving strong sales of related merchandise like figures and keychains. While her charm is a major draw, the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End also impresses with its engaging story, exciting action, and thoughtful themes.
Frieren, an elf, once saved the world with a team of heroes. Unlike her friends, she doesn’t age, and while her long life gives her a special connection to the world, she still feels deep sorrow when those she cares about pass away. When one of her companions dies, she sets out on a long journey to a place where spirits find peace, marking the start of a remarkable and moving adventure.
18. One Piece
I have to say, Hulu isn’t ideal for watching One Piece, but if you find yourself with some downtime, I definitely recommend checking out Luffy’s journey. Even though they don’t have every season, it’s hard to resist diving into the world of One Piece whenever you have the chance.
As a huge anime fan, I’ve found that services like Crunchyroll really shine when you want to binge a whole series – they usually have all the seasons! But honestly, I’m always happy to see Hulu carrying at least some episodes, especially when it includes a classic like One Piece – it’s awesome they’re giving props to the greatest pirate of all time!
17. Dandadan
Dandadan is a truly unique anime that throws together aliens, ghosts, and wildly unpredictable scenarios, all with a surprisingly fresh and unconventional action style. It quickly made a splash upon release, offering a welcome change of pace and a new idea for anime within the Shonen Jump world.
I’m so excited about this story! It centers around Ken and Momo, two students who couldn’t be more different – he’s all about aliens, and she’s a firm believer in ghosts. They decide to put their beliefs to the test, and things immediately get wild. Seriously, they stumble into a world of curses, crazy battles, and some genuinely hilarious, scary situations. Both of them are going to face some really tough personal problems, and they’ll have to work together to overcome them. And Ken? Well, let’s just say he loses something very important – a part of himself, actually – and he’s determined to get it back, no matter what!
16. Hunter x Hunter
Originally airing in 2011, Hunter x Hunter is a beloved and enduring anime. Its continued popularity is evident in the recent release of a new video game in 2025, adding to a long line of Hunter x Hunter games – proving its lasting relevance.

Even though you can find Hunter x Hunter on other streaming platforms, it’s still a great choice to watch on Hulu. The series follows Hunters – individuals who are exceptional and play a vital role in the world. Becoming a Hunter isn’t easy, but that doesn’t stop Gon Freecss from pursuing his dream, inspired by his father. Throughout the story, Gon will encounter many difficult obstacles and battle formidable foes.
15. Fire Force
This anime, a prequel to Soul Eater, follows a team of firefighters with special abilities as they battle monstrous flames threatening to consume the world. Surprisingly, Tokyo manages to hold strong against the destruction. Many consider it one of the most creative and captivating anime series to come out recently.
The story immediately grabs you with its dramatic, post-apocalyptic world – a world literally on fire, and even using a new calendar. Firefighters aren’t just battling blazes, though; they’re facing people who burst into flames and terrifying demons. The main character has a unique power: he can control fire with his feet. While he starts out trying to save the city, he quickly realizes there’s a much bigger threat looming.
14. Toriko
Back in 2008, Shonen Jump tried to launch a new character who could become as popular as iconic heroes like Goku from Dragon Ball and Luffy from One Piece. This character, Toriko, was a powerfully built Gourmet Hunter.
Toriko was an anime series that ran from 2011 to 2014 and also included several movies. While it didn’t become as popular as Naruto, the creators definitely gave it a shot. They even made special episodes where the main character teamed up with Goku and Luffy! Today, Toriko is still a fun watch, though its overall story idea wasn’t particularly groundbreaking. Despite that, it’s still worth checking out if you’re looking for something new.
13. Dragon Ball
Hulu is a great place to watch everything from Akira Toriyama’s world, including lots of episodes and series following Goku’s story. We’ve organized this list to make sure it isn’t overwhelmed with Dragon Ball anime.
The Dragon Ball series you can find on Hulu are the following:
- Dragon Ball
- Dragon Ball Z
- Dragon Ball GT
- Dragon Ball Z Kai
- Dragon Ball Super
- Dragon Ball Daima
If you’re new to Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z Kai is a great place to start. However, if you want to experience the entire story, begin with the very first episode. For those who prefer a more contemporary art style, Dragon Ball Daima is the best choice.
12. Attack on Titan
Despite feeling similar to typical action-adventure anime, Attack on Titan is actually geared towards a more mature audience. Even though the ending wasn’t loved by everyone, it’s still considered one of the best anime series of the last few years.
If you’re new to this anime, the start will be a real shock and incredibly exciting. While the intensity levels off as the story goes on, it remains captivating. It’s a powerful and moving series, filled with action and emotional moments, but be aware that it features more violence than many other action-adventure anime.
11. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Widely considered one of the greatest shonen anime ever made, and potentially one of the best anime series overall, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a truly exceptional adaptation. While the earlier anime version was good, this one stays remarkably true to Hiromu Arakawa’s original manga.
The Elric brothers’ journey starts with a forbidden attempt to bring their mother back to life, setting them on a path toward a complex and unavoidable fate. From the very beginning, the story draws you in with classic shonen anime elements, but also offers a surprising level of emotional depth. It’s a truly memorable anime – one you’ll cherish so much that you might hesitate to rewatch it, afraid of diminishing its impact.
