The Warhammer Skulls video game festival is now live on Steam, and it’s celebrating 10 years with big discounts! It’s a great time to buy games if you’re a Warhammer fan, or if you’re curious about the dark sci-fi world of Warhammer 40,000 or the fantasy setting of The Old World.
If you’re interested in Warhammer games, here’s a quick overview of some good ones. For a more detailed look at these and other titles, check out my list of the best Warhammer games to play in 2026.
Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector – $11.99
As a long-time Warhammer fan, I’ve played a lot of games in this universe. It’s crazy that for years, we were missing a really solid, turn-based strategy title – until Battlesector came out in 2022. Thankfully, Slitherine stepped in and absolutely nailed it. This game has everything I wanted: all the iconic factions and units from the tabletop game, a cool single-player campaign with its own story, amazing graphics, and a thriving multiplayer community. Plus, the developers are still supporting it – they just added the Ultramarines today, which is awesome!
Space Marine 2 – $17.99
If you find strategy games a little slow and prefer fast-paced combat, Space Marine and Space Marine 2 are excellent choices. You play as Captain Titus of the Ultramarines, battling endless waves of Orks and Tyranids with guns and a chainsaw. The shooting feels powerful and the story is surprisingly engaging, full of twists and escalating challenges. I’m a big fan – I enjoy what’s become known as the ‘Xbox Shooter’ style: over-the-top third-person action with a focus on powerful heroes and impressive armor. Don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it!
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters – $4.49
Imagine the tactical gameplay of XCOM and XCOM 2, but set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters replaces XCOM soldiers with powerful Grey Knight Space Marines and aliens with the forces of Nurgle. It’s a brilliant turn-based strategy game, and at less than $5, it’s an incredible bargain – easily the best deal of the festival.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition – $17.99
The original Dawn of War remains a beloved real-time strategy game for many, often considered the best in the series. Although I missed it when it first released in 2004, the 2025 Definitive Edition gave me the opportunity to experience it, and I absolutely loved it. It’s truly one of the all-time greats, and the visual and gameplay improvements in the Definitive Edition make it even more enjoyable.
