In the game Phasmophobia, you automatically have a watch that was added with a recent update. It displays your sanity level, how long you’ve been on a ghost hunt, and whether the game is picking up sound from your microphone. You don’t need to select or equip it – it’s always available during investigations.
You can check the watch by opening your Journal and looking at your wrist, or by holding the ‘Use’ button with nothing in your hands. It’s really helpful once you’re away from the truck, as it’s the only way to monitor your sanity outside of checking the equipment monitor. It’s a great tool to have in Phasmophobia.
What the Watch Does in Phasmophobia
The player watch has three important functions that can help during ghost hunts in Phasmophobia.
Monitor Sanity Levels
The best part of the watch is the sanity tracker. It’s a circular meter around the edge that shows how quickly your sanity is decreasing. This lets you easily see how risky the situation is getting, without having to return to the safety of the truck.
Keep Track of Time
Okay, so my watch has this really handy timer right in the middle that shows me how long I’ve been in a contract. It’s a lifesaver during setup! I can glance at it and instantly see when the safe period is over and when things are likely to get spooky with the ghosts. It just makes managing the prep time so much easier.
Microphone Detection
You’ll also find a microphone icon on the lower part of the watch. When the game is picking up sound from your microphone, the icon will turn from gray to white.
Just a reminder: your watch won’t interfere with ghost hunts, as it doesn’t register as electronic equipment to them.
How to View and Use the Watch in Phasmophobia
You can check the time in-game in a couple of ways. The simplest is to open your Journal. Because your character typically holds something in one hand – like a flashlight – opening the Journal frees up both hands, giving you a clear view of the watch on your wrist.
The second way to check the time only works if you’re not holding anything in your left hand. When your hand is free, you can press and hold the Use button to lift your wrist and look at the watch. The specific button you need to press might be different depending on your game settings, so you can find and change it in the Controls menu if necessary.
Players using virtual reality have a small advantage: the watch is always visible on their wrist, and they can quickly glance at it by simply raising their left hand.
