The Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered collection is now available on PlayStation Plus, but the PlayStation 4 version might be better than the PlayStation 5 one. PlayStation Plus has been giving PlayStation players free games every month since 2010, and in 2022, they added different membership levels. The basic ‘Essential’ tier still offers a few games each month, while the ‘Extra’ tier gives you access to a growing library of PlayStation 4 and 5 games. The highest tier, ‘Premium,’ includes even more classics from PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and PSP, as well as PlayStation 3 games you can stream.
I’m so excited for the PlayStation Plus Essential games next April! They’re adding Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered for both PS4 and PS5. It’s awesome that Aspyr brought back the original Lara Croft adventures – I’ve been wanting to replay those classics! And it’s great to hear they were successful enough to release Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered a year later too. It means we’ll get to enjoy even more of the early Tomb Raider games with a fresh coat of paint!
Tomb Raider Remaster Collection Features No Platinum Trophy on PlayStation 5 Version
So, I was checking out the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered collection, and I saw on Reddit that the PS5 version doesn’t have a Platinum trophy. It’s kinda weird because both the PS4 and PS5 versions have over 200 trophies total, but the PS5 versions of each game don’t give you a Platinum. If you’re playing on PS4 though, you can actually earn three separate Platinum trophies – one for each game in the collection.
The recent PlayStation 5 re-release of Tomb Raider isn’t the only one with issues. The Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered collection also lacks a Platinum trophy. This seems to be caused by a change in PlayStation 5 policy. When games are released as a collection, they’re treated as a single unit on your profile instead of being listed separately. We’ve seen this happen with other PlayStation 5 collections, like Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Players discovering the remastered Tomb Raider 1-3 on PlayStation 5 through PlayStation Plus won’t be able to earn a Platinum trophy, which will likely frustrate completionists. Those seeking the full trophy collection will need to play an older version of the game. However, the PlayStation Plus release does include both the PS4 and PS5 versions, giving players a choice based on whether they prioritize earning a Platinum trophy.

Honestly, since this is a collection of older PlayStation games just remastered, I don’t think the PlayStation 5 version is that much better. It does run at 120 FPS instead of 60 on the PS4, but the PS4 version should still be perfectly smooth and enjoyable. I also appreciate that being available on PlayStation Plus means I can finally play these classic Lara Croft adventures on whatever PlayStation I own, even if Sony’s trophy system can be a bit annoying.
