Early looks at 007 First Light, including trailers and gameplay, suggest it’s going to be a visually stunning game. IO Interactive recently detailed how the game will take full advantage of the PS5 Pro console. While some players were worried about performance after a preview in September 2025, IO Interactive has confirmed a smooth 60 frames per second, and even showed it off in a new gameplay video. The standard PS5 will also offer options: a ‘Performance’ mode for 60fps, or a ‘Quality’ mode for improved visuals at 30fps. However, the best way to play on PlayStation will be on the Pro console.

The new update for 007 First Light uses a technology called PSSR to significantly improve the game’s visuals. You’ll notice richer details in things like trees and plants, and more clarity during cutscenes. PSSR also reduces distracting flickering and shimmering, providing a more stable image even during intense action. Character details like hair and clothing will appear sharper and more realistic. Interestingly, the developers at IO Interactive found that implementing PSSR was surprisingly quick and easy, resulting in a big visual upgrade with relatively little effort.
During a September 2025 presentation, many players expressed disappointment with the initial gameplay shown for 007 First Light. Concerns included performance issues and design choices, such as the emphasis on a car chase and similarities to the gameplay of IO Interactive’s Hitman series. However, the studio has since addressed these concerns with new trailers and information, generating increased excitement for the game.

Other popular titles, like Pragmata, Cyberpunk 2077, and ARC Raiders, have also received updates to improve visuals and resolution with PSSR. Several other high-profile games, including Ghost of Yotei, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, are also benefiting from this enhanced power.
