Even though it’s still early, 2026 is shaping up to be an amazing year for relaxing “cozy” games. With lots of new titles on the way, it could be the best year ever for the genre. The upcoming games are diverse, ranging from familiar farming and life simulation games to those with magical elements or more realistic settings.
Relaxing with a good game for an hour or two is a great way to de-stress, and these games all offer that experience. What’s really impressive is how different they all are – each one boasts a unique art style, idea, and world. Even though many games in this genre follow similar patterns, the developers have clearly put a lot of creativity into making each one stand out.
10. Deer & Boy
A Wholesome Platformer

Deer & Boy is a charming, wordless platformer where a boy and a deer journey side-by-side. I was immediately captivated by its beautiful art style and heartwarming story, and I suspect it will be a very emotional experience. As you play, the deer matures, and the two characters strengthen their connection by overcoming obstacles and working together to solve puzzles.
Deer & Boy is a unique platformer that stands out for its cozy and heartwarming atmosphere – exactly what many players looking for relaxing games enjoy. It’s currently planned to be released in late 2026.
9. Outbound
Hit the Road
Outbound is a cozy exploration game currently in development, successfully funded by Kickstarter. It focuses on letting players customize their solar-powered camper van in extensive detail. You can really make the van your own, expanding it with additions that unfold from the roof and sides – almost like a portable home!
Honestly, I’m really loving how a lot of cozy games are starting to focus on nature and keeping things eco-friendly. It’s such a nice change of pace! With all the depressing news about pollution and climate change, it’s amazing to escape into a game where I can just live with nature, not fight against it. It feels really hopeful and relaxing, you know?
8. Animula Nook
See the World Differently
Stories like Arriety and The Borrowers show us familiar homes in a completely new way. Animula Nook takes this idea and transforms a normal room into an entire world, making you feel incredibly small. Suddenly, everyday objects become resources you need to find and use to survive.
Animula Nook lets you build and personalize your own miniature home with a huge range of options. Exploring the world feels fresh and exciting, as even everyday items seem new when viewed from your tiny perspective. While there’s no confirmed release date, Animula Nook is currently expected to launch around the end of 2026.
7. Humblets
A Cozy Camper Retreat
| Platform | PC |
|---|---|
| Publisher | HypeTrain Digital |
| Genre | Adventure |
| Release Date | TBD |
Humblets offers a relaxing take on the survival game. Instead of intense pressure, it focuses on exploring a beautifully designed world that feels like a warm summer camp. You play as a ‘humblet’ – a small, adorable creature similar to a brownie or hobbit – and can fully customize its appearance, even adding fantasy elements like horns or pointed ears.
Humblets is a cooperative game for up to four players where you can team up with friends to explore and collect resources. It’s designed to be a relaxing and casual experience, ideal for chilling out with friends or enjoying solo. As a big Lord of the Rings fan, I’m excited about it because it captures a similar feeling to exploring the world as a hobbit.
6. Moonlight Peaks
One for the Gothic Horror Girlies
Moonlight Peaks is a farming game with a spooky twist! Instead of playing as a human farmer, you’re a vampire. You can build relationships with the townspeople, who are a mix of magical creatures like werewolves, mermaids, witches, and other vampires.
This farming simulator stands out with its unique blend of gothic horror and cute, Hello-Kitty-inspired visuals. As you progress, you’ll gain vampire abilities that make farm work simpler – even things like watering plants will become effortless! Plus, you can design and decorate your own cozy vampire home with lots of charming options. Mark your calendars – the game is scheduled to launch on June 7, 2026.
5. Paralives
A Cozy Life Sim
Paralives, often mentioned as a rival to the popular game The Sims, has been in development for quite some time. Originally planned for release in early access last December, it’s now expected to launch in May 2026.
For years, people have been eagerly anticipating Paralives as a potential rival to the popular life simulation game, The Sims 4. This competition is welcome, especially now, with Electronic Arts being acquired and concerns rising that The Sims 4 may no longer receive new expansion packs. Paralives stands out with its distinctive art style and innovative building features, offering a fresh alternative and promising to bring more variety to the life simulation genre.
4. Loftia
Islands in the Sky
| Platform | PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch |
|---|---|
| Publisher | Qloud Games |
| Genre | Casual |
| Release Date | TBD |
Loftia is an online multiplayer game set in a beautiful, futuristic world where islands float in the sky. It’s a ‘solarpunk’ game, meaning it focuses on sustainable living and green technology, which makes it perfect for fans of farming games. Loftia goes beyond typical farming by challenging players to find innovative, eco-friendly solutions to problems like getting around and growing the best crops using scientific methods.
Loftia is a free-to-play online multiplayer game where you can connect with a community and play alongside friends. It recently finished a successful beta test with great feedback, and is currently scheduled to launch in 2026.
3. My Time at Evershine
The Latest in a Line of Successes
Both My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock have become popular cozy games. The My Time At… series is unique, set in a world after a disaster, and it’s found a dedicated audience by doing something a little different.
Honestly, you’d expect a world after everything’s gone wrong to be super depressing, but My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock are surprisingly cheerful! What really got me hooked was how much everyone worked together, and each game just feels totally different with its landscapes, the problems you face, and the story. Now, My Time at Evershine is looking to switch things up – it’s going for a more European vibe and seems like they’re really focusing on making the RPG and town-building aspects even better.
2. Fields of Mistria
A Magical World with a Story
Fields of Mistria has been available in early access for a while now, and the developers are planning a full release in the next few months. The game takes place in the lovely village of Mistria, and what really makes it special are the characters. You’ll find lots of interesting conversations to overhear and join, which helps bring the village to life.

The game’s art style is beautifully reminiscent of ’90s shoujo anime. Beyond its lovely visuals, it features a deep crafting system, with players able to cook, farm, raise animals, and mine resources. I’ve already sunk hundreds of hours into the early access version of Fields of Mistria and I’m really looking forward to experiencing the complete game.
1. Witchbrook
It’s Been Ten Years
Witchbrook, a highly anticipated life-simulation game, has been in development for a decade, and is currently aiming for a 2026 release. In the game, you’ll play as a new witch in the town of Mossport, attending magic school to learn spells and potions and building a life for yourself.
Honestly, the art style is just gorgeous and so detailed – the trailers make the world feel totally real. If you’re like me and are kinda tired of the same old magical school games, Witchbrook looks like it could really suck you in for hundreds of hours. I’m already excited to learn magic and get to know all the interesting characters!
