Fantasy anime is currently very popular, with several recent shows becoming major hits. Series like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Delicious in Dungeon, and Witch Hat Atelier are attracting new fans and bringing a fresh, creative energy to the genre, thanks to their compelling stories and high-quality animation.
These new anime shows look amazing and are made with a lot of care, but many fans believe older, fantastic fantasy series deserve the same level of quality. Remaking these classics could bring them back into the spotlight and give them the high-quality adaptations they’ve always wanted.
7. Code Geass
Code Geass is a fantastic anime blending fantasy and mecha, and it holds up incredibly well even now. The animation remains stunning, with exciting battles and creatively designed robots called Knightmare Frames. It’s a truly impressive series that can still rival many anime released in recent years.
Even with new Code Geass projects being released, many fans still prefer the original 2006 anime series, especially its main character, Lelouche Lamperouge. A remake with updated animation, but keeping the same strong story and beautiful music, could easily win back fans and re-establish the series as a favorite.
6. Bleach
The new anime adaptation of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War gives Tite Kubo’s manga the updated treatment fans have been waiting for. This version fixes many of the problems with the original anime, including excessive filler episodes, outdated visuals, and an uneven pace that made it hard to follow the long storyline.
Even though Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is still airing and will continue in July 2026, fans would be thrilled to see a remake of the original Bleach anime from 2004. A remake with no filler episodes and improved animation would be a dream come true for many. With One Piece getting a similar treatment, Bleach deserves the same opportunity to be updated and re-released.
5. Cardcaptor Sakura
Every fan of the anime Cardcaptor Sakura probably dreams of becoming a magical girl just like the main character. This classic series was one of the first of its kind and inspired many people to be brave, kind, and stand up for what they believe in – and look good doing it with a cute magical outfit!
Although Cardcaptor Sakura continued with the Clear Card Arc in 2018, the original series from 1998 feels ripe for a modern update. A remake could improve the show’s flow while still keeping its beloved classic look. Better production values would also make the character relationships and Sakura’s card-capturing scenes even more engaging.
4. The Promised Neverland Season 2
The announcement of season two of The Promised Neverland immediately thrilled fans, bringing back the intense enjoyment they felt while watching the first season. That initial season was a captivating journey, following the children at the orphanage as they uncovered the truth about Mother and the dangers of the world beyond their walls.
Season 2 of The Promised Neverland didn’t quite reach the quality of its popular first season. It left out important parts of the original manga story and felt rushed, which left many fans disappointed. Because of this, many are hoping for a remake – a new version that stays true to the manga and matches the excellent animation of the first season.

3. Flame of Recca
Anime fans often wonder if Flame of Recca will be remade, particularly since many older shows from the 1990s are being brought back to life by animation studios.
I’ve been hoping for a remake of Flame of Recca for a long time. The original is a real favorite among shonen and fantasy anime fans, but a new version could really elevate the production quality and finally cover the rest of the manga’s story. It’s a lot like YuYu Hakusho – the main character, Recca Hanabishi, has the ability to control fire and ends up in a big fighting tournament to defend the people he cares about.
2. Berserk
Fans have consistently asked for a faithful adaptation of Berserk. While the series has been adapted into anime before, dedicated followers continue to hope for a remake that truly captures the spirit and detail of Kentaro Miura’s original manga.
The original Berserk anime is historically significant, but it only covered a small part of Guts’ complicated story. Later attempts to adapt the manga weren’t very successful, leaving fans disappointed but still hoping for a truly great remake in the future.
1. Noblesse
Given A-1 Pictures’ success with the Solo Leveling anime, there’s hope they could do the same for Noblesse. The 2020 anime adaptation of Noblesse didn’t live up to expectations, feeling very rushed. Noblesse is a highly popular manhwa, known for its exciting power-ups and straightforward, appealing story—similar to what made Solo Leveling a hit.
Unlike Solo Leveling, which focuses on a character who gains power through leveling up, Noblesse centers around a powerful, ancient vampire who commands respect and fear from all creatures—vampires, humans, werewolves, and more. Now that the Noblesse story is finished, a new anime adaptation could finally give this beloved series the recognition it deserves from fans worldwide.
