The Gathering collaboration collection. However, enthusiasts lament that it overlooked an incredibly apparent opportunity to allude to one of the franchise’s most popular internet jokes.
In simple terms, Final Fantasy 4 was one of the first main series games from the franchise to be launched globally, but due to Nintendo’s strict content standards in the ’90s, it had some localization problems and a lot of censorship, resulting in awkward translations that are now legendary in gaming history.
The most well-known blunder in the series is ‘You Lute-like Minstrel,’ a phrase said by the Wise Man Tellah when confronting Edward, who incidentally is a Bard. In the Magic: The Gathering and Final Fantasy crossover, Tellah receives a card, but he doesn’t have a unique dialogue line associated with it.
Tellah’s MTG Card Lacks A Spoony Bard Quote
On the MagicTCG subreddit, the Tellah, Great Sage card has been unveiled. This legendary human wizard is a red and blue creature that requires 5 mana (1 blue, 1 red, and the remaining 3 of any color) to be played, boasting 3/3 power and toughness.
On Tellah’s card, you’ll find an abundance of text. His strongest ability empowers the player to surrender Tellah when casting a spell that requires eight or more mana. This action causes each opponent to sustain damage equivalent to the mana cost of the spell, unfortunately, there is no flavor text on the card, so you won’t find the “You Spoony Bard” reference.
This error is quite significant and appears to have been intentionally set aside for potential use on a future card. If Tidus and Yuna’s laughter manages to make it onto a card, then Tellah’s well-known insult will not be overlooked. It might be reserved for an Instant or Sorcery card, a non-Commander version of Tellah, included in one of Edward’s cards, or left unused altogether, which could represent the biggest disappointment in this crossover project.
