The creators of 007 First Light have made it clear that the game is not simply a repackaging (or reskin) of Hitman, but rather has numerous distinct differences.
Yesterday, during an exclusive State of Play event, 007 First Light unveiled 30 minutes of gameplay, along with announcing its release date and pre-order details. Afterwards, a new interview surfaced in which the developers confirmed that the James Bond game is a separate entity from Hitman.
007 First Light’s Driving Was A “Huge Challenge”
In an interview with GamesRadar+, senior licensing producer Theuns Smit clarified that Hitman and 007 First Light are separate games. Since the announcement of the game, the team has experienced remarkable growth, with the addition of new talented individuals to their already established staff. This influx of fresh talent, coupled with existing personnel, marked a significant expansion for the studio.
The new team members contributed with their novel perspectives and skills, leveraging IO Interactive’s extensive 25-year history while still focusing on creating an exceptional gaming experience for both Hitman and the upcoming Bond game. Smit emphasized that each game will maintain its unique identity, ensuring they cater to the specific gameplay experiences desired for each title.
After that, Smit discussed the topic of driving, labeling it as “definitely quite a formidable task.” To tackle this issue, they recruited developers who were well-versed in driving matters, individuals who had experience with coding, setup, fine-tuning, and balancing. He emphasized that it’s a delicate act to create a vehicle that is thrilling, trustworthy, and potentially risky, all while remaining accessible and enjoyable for a broad range of users. Striking this balance was a challenge and a “fresh journey” for them, but they are content with the space they have found themselves in.
