Last year, the popular series “Jujutsu Kaisen” concluded with the Shinjuku Showdown arc in its manga, leaving many fans heartbroken. But here’s some good news! The creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, Gege Akutami, is officially back and ready to deliver a new story. In fact, it was recently announced that Gege is returning to Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump with a brand-new manga he will solely write. This upcoming manga, titled “Modulo,” will be beautifully illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki. Interestingly enough, this new manga shares connections with “Jujutsu Kaisen.

Previously announced today, the news was verified that Gege Akutami’s fresh manga unfolds as a continuation of Jujutsu Kaisen. The narrative is positioned in the same universe, unfolding years following the Shinjuku Showdown incident. Naturally, curiosity among fans runs high, questioning what became of their beloved characters over time. Given that the story takes place decades after the battle against Sukuna, it’s only natural to wonder about Gege Akutami’s romantic pairings. Today’s confirmation from the author revealed that Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin ended up as a married couple.

Fervent supporters of “Jujutsu Kaisen” were convinced that Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin would become a couple following the events depicted in the Shinjuku Showdown arc. Despite hints in the one-shot suggesting this, the author hadn’t officially confirmed it. However, in the new “Jujutsu Kaisen” sequel manga titled “Jujutsu Kaisen 3 Modulo”, it is now confirmed that Yuta and Maki did indeed form a romantic bond. In his narrative, Gege explicitly reveals that they got married, which is significant for both the development of the story and the fanbase’s beloved characters.

What’s unfortunate is that fans didn’t have many opportunities to see them in the new manga due to the early demise of Maki Zenin under mysterious circumstances. Soon after Maki’s passing, Yuta Okkotsu began to weaken and ultimately perished as well, presumably from the despair following Maki’s heartbreaking departure.

In this extra story, Yuji was back in his hometown and encountered her. Their meeting allowed them to spend some quality time together, and it was made clear that Ozawa’s feelings for him remained unchanged.

Given that Yuji will be spending more time in his hometown, it seems plausible for them to spend more quality time together and potentially form a relationship. Although an official confirmation has not been given, the author’s hints lead many fans to believe that this could become a canonical couple.
