SEC Delays Decisions on Dogecoin and Hedera Altcoin ETFs – Drama Continues!

The U.S. SEC has decided to take its sweet time on the Bitwise Dogecoin and Grayscale Hedera ETF applications, pushing back the decision date to Nov. 12. A backlog of altcoin ETF filings seems to be giving the agency a good reason to delay, and who could blame them? It’s like a never-ending game of “who’s next?” with crypto ETFs. 🙄

  • SEC has delayed decisions on NYSE Arca’s Bitwise Dogecoin ETF and Grayscale’s Hedera ETF until Nov. 12.
  • In true SEC style, they’ve extended deadlines for Solana and XRP ETFs as well. Who’s surprised? Not us.
  • 92 altcoin ETF applications are pending, with Solana and XRP being the stars of the show – lots of institutional interest there.

The SEC, in its infinite wisdom (or lack thereof, depending on who you ask), has extended its review of both the Bitwise Dogecoin (DOGE) ETF and Grayscale’s Hedera (HBAR) ETF. And let’s be honest, this isn’t the first time they’ve taken a bit longer than necessary to make up their minds. The decision has now been pushed to Nov. 12. Exciting stuff, right? 😅

In case you’ve been living under a rock, the SEC has been on a roll with delays. The review window for multiple altcoin ETFs has been extended-just to keep us on the edge of our seats, I guess. Solana (SOL), Ripple (XRP), and the rest of the altcoin gang have had their fair share of SEC delays in recent weeks. What can I say? It’s a party, and everyone’s invited! 🥳

The Current Altcoin ETF Landscape

Oh, and the plot thickens! Bloomberg Intelligence’s very own James Seyffart spilled the beans on how there are now 92 crypto-related exchange-traded products hanging out, waiting for a decision. Solana (SOL) and XRP are the ones everyone’s obsessed with, with eight and seven ETF applications pending, respectively. But, of course, these aren’t the only ones-there’s a whole buffet of crypto ETFs just sitting there, collecting dust. 😆

But wait! It’s not all delays and drama. The SEC has actually given a little attention to something new! On Sept. 8, they acknowledged a filing for the Canary Staked SEI ETF. Is this the start of something new? Or just another thing to add to the ever-growing pile? Only time will tell! 🕰️

NEW: Here is a list of all the filings and/or applications I’m tracking for Crypto ETPs here in the US. There are 92 line items in this spreadsheet. You will almost certainly have to squint and zoom to see but best I can do on here
