This article contains spoilers for the One Piece series.
As One Piece nears its conclusion, Eiichiro Oda is unveiling more details about this expansive world, particularly in the ongoing Elbaf storyline. Besides disclosing the Harley, Oda has delved deeply into the Holy Knights and hinted at some of Imu’s abilities. Moreover, he initiated an astonishing flashback that exposed the background of Rocks D. Xebec.
Using Xebec, fans have uncovered significant insights about one of the most renowned characters from the manga series One Piece, Davy D. Jones, a pirate who lived during the Void Century and whose legacy continues to be felt today through Blackbeard (also known as Davy D. Teach).
Davy D. Jones Was A Legendary Pirate

- First Mentioned in Long Ring Long Land
- A Pirate That Lived In The Same Era As Joy Boy
When viewing Long Ring Long Land, fewer viewers anticipated that Davy Jones’ name would carry such significance in the concluding storyline. After all, many regarded this arc as merely a temporary solution, but in reality, it was far more substantial. It not only unveiled the epic duel known as the “Davy Jones’ Locker Battle” but also introduced us to the renowned pirate himself.
In Elbaf now, we’ve discovered who Davy Jones truly was – his name wasn’t actually Davy Jones, but rather Davy D. Jones. He existed during what’s known as the Void Century, 800 years back, like Joy Boy did. Much about him is still shrouded in mystery, but it’s clear that the World Government views him and his kin as a threat. The specific reasons are yet to be unveiled, but it seems plausible that they had opposed them in times past.
Davy D. Jones Could Be Dead, But His Will Loves On

- Davy D. Xebec and Davy D. Teach Are His Descendants
- Xebec is Dead, But Blackbeard Will Carry Their Will
Despite Davy D. Jones’ enigmatic persona persisting, it’s known that he has living descendants. One of the most notorious pirates to traverse the Grand Line, Rocks D. Xebec, was in fact a descendant of Davy D., and his true name was Davy D. Xebec.
In the world of One Piece, it’s true that Xebec met his end, but it doesn’t signify that the lineage of the Davy family ceased with him. This is because Blackbeard, as it turns out, is Xebec’s son. Although he does not bear the name Davy, he goes by Davy D. Teach, and he is the one who will uphold the legacy of Davy until the very end. He stands against the powerful forces of the World Government and Imu, ensuring the Davy family’s influence lives on.

Upon unveiling Davy D. Jones’ true identity, it could potentially uncover the mystery behind Blackbeard’s remains as well as shed light on an unusual phenomenon – a single individual consuming multiple Devil Fruits without meeting an untimely end. It is also possible that Jones and Xebec are somehow concealed within Blackbeard.
