It’s not surprising that the sales for the One Piece manga volumes have decreased over time. After all, One Piece was first published in 1997, and Shonen Jump is primarily geared towards children. Many young kids today may not be familiar with One Piece, and those who are might be older teenagers or young adults. With sales dropping for almost three decades, it’s no wonder there’s been a decline.

In the first half of 2025, Jujutsu Kaisen outsold One Piece in annual sales, as per Oricon charts, with some even calling Jujutsu Kaisen the next-generation manga. Although One Piece released a new volume since then, it seems unlikely that it’ll be the best-selling manga of 2025 overall.

In the first half of 2025, the popular manga series Jujutsu Kaisen took home the title for Japan’s top-selling manga. The final volume of the series was released in December 2024, and since then, sales have skyrocketed. The backlog of sales saw a significant increase, as did the sales of the last two volumes. By the end of May 2025, Jujutsu Kaisen had sold an impressive 3,325,000 copies, despite no new volumes being released this year.

In terms of sales, Dandadan was leading with an impressive 2,493,262 copies sold. Blue Lock came in second place with 1,836,398 units, and One Piece held the third position, with 1,780,000 copies. However, it appears that One Piece is not on track to be the best-selling manga of 2025 based on these initial numbers. But since May, things have taken a different turn.

In the last few months, One Piece released its 112th volume and has already reached sales of approximately 1.1 million copies. This brings the total sales for One Piece close to a staggering 3 million copies. However, these numbers don’t seem to come close to those of Jujutsu Kaisen. In fact, given that Jujutsu Kaisen has sold even more copies since then, it is likely that the series is now well over the 3.5 million mark.

Jujutsu Kaisen Might Be Crowned The Most Sold Manga Of The Year

Though Jujutsu Kaisen has surpassed One Piece in popularity currently, fans should not overlook the rising star, Dandadan. The manga has been flying off shelves since mid-year rankings, much like Blue Lock. Dandadan is projected to be close to 3 million copies sold, and with more volumes coming up, this number could increase significantly. Furthermore, it’s expected that Dandadan will release two more volumes this year, potentially pushing the sales figure over 4 million.

It appears that the next volume of One Piece, arriving in November 2025, is on its way. However, given the sales of previous volumes, it seems that One Piece might narrowly miss out on being the best-selling manga of 2025. The race for this year’s top-selling manga looks incredibly close among Jujutsu Kaisen, Dandadan, Blue Lock, and One Piece. But based on current trends, it’s predicted that Dandadan will emerge victorious.
