Hideo Kojima Horror Game OD: Knock Has Serious PT Vibes

Hideo Kojima recently released a chilling trailer for his new horror game, OD: Knock, which strongly evokes memories of his previous project, PT. PT, though just a demo, revolutionized horror gaming with its terrifying atmosphere and first-person viewpoint, influencing many games that followed. Because of PT‘s impact, fans were thrilled when Kojima announced OD, but details have been scarce until now.

Early reports indicated that Sophia Lillis, Udo Kier, and Hunter Schafer would appear in the game, then known as *OD*, but details were scarce. It was also announced that Jordan Peele, the director of popular horror films like *Get Out*, *Us*, and *Nope*, was working with Hideo Kojima on the project. Now, it appears there are actually several *OD* projects underway, and the one featuring Lillis, Kier, and Schafer – currently titled *OD: Knock* – is separate from the collaboration between Kojima and Peele.

IGN, the streaming partner for the 10-year anniversary event for Kojima Productions called “Beyond the Strand,” showed off the first footage of *OD: Knock*. This confirmed the game’s subtitle and that it will be heavily inspired by *PT*. The gameplay shown is a first-person horror experience where the player explores a realistic, unsettling room and approaches a candle-lit altar. The player lights matches to ignite the candles, which appears to activate sounds and other events. This could suggest the type of puzzles players will encounter in *OD: Knock*, though that’s still unconfirmed.

Hideo Kojima OD: Knock Trailer

Okay, so the teaser ended with this really creepy figure walking in on Sophia Lillis’ character, and then *grabbing her head* – seriously unsettling! From what I’ve seen, this game, *OD: Knock*, feels like it’s going to be right up the alley of anyone who loved *PT*. There’s still so much we don’t know about it, like what platforms it’s coming to. It’s being published by Xbox Game Studios, so it *could* be exclusive to Xbox consoles or launch straight onto Game Pass, but nothing’s confirmed yet. We just know the cast and that they’re building it with Unreal Engine. I’m already hooked!

The cancellation of *Silent Hills* was a huge disappointment for many horror fans, so it’s exciting to see Hideo Kojima return to the genre with a new project. While we don’t have a release date for *OD: Knock* yet, we’re hoping to learn more about it soon.
