Players of *Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds* can get the Blue Star Extreme Gear DLC for free until October 30th, but they’ll need a SEGA account to claim it. The game has launched to great reviews, earning positive feedback on most platforms, and this free DLC is a way for the developers to show their appreciation to fans.
Since its release on September 25th, *Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds* has quickly become a strong competitor to *Mario Kart World*, and many fans see this rivalry as a positive development for kart racing games. Both games have received excellent reviews and are attracting more players, even though *Mario Kart World* is only available on the Nintendo Switch 2. This exclusivity hasn’t seemed to impact its popularity.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Is Giving Away the Iconic Blue Star Hoverboard
To celebrate the launch of *Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds*, SEGA is offering the Blue Star Extreme Gear DLC for free. All you need to do is create a SEGA account and connect it to the platform where you play the game. You can claim the DLC on the official SEGA website before October 30, 2025. Fans of the classic *Sonic Riders* game will remember the Blue Star hoverboard as a beloved item from that nostalgic title.
How to Claim Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds’ Blue Star Extreme Gear DLC
- Go to the official SEGA rewards webpage
- Locate the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds reward card
- Click “Claim Your Reward”
- Create a SEGA account
- Link it to a supported gaming platform where the game is available
- Enter the redemption code on the platform to unlock the Blue Star Extreme Gear DLC, which will appear under the Boost section of the gear collection
Just a heads up: the free downloadable content can only be claimed once per account, per platform. If you want it on more than one platform, you’ll need to create a separate SEGA account for each one.
SEGA seems to be deliberately tapping into players’ fond memories with the extra content they’re adding to their new kart racing game. In addition to the Blue Star Extreme Gear, they’ve also announced a *Mega Man* DLC, which will include popular characters from that series. A specific release date for this crossover hasn’t been revealed yet.

As a big SEGA fan, I was excited to see the Blue Star DLC for Sonic, but I also checked out their Rewards page and found even more free stuff! If you’re into other SEGA games, you can snag an Exploration Item Set for Persona 3: Reloaded and a cool SEGA Blue Outfit for Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. The best part? All you need to do is create a SEGA account to claim them – it’s super easy!
