Being a One Piece fan is fantastic right now. The manga has been delivering incredible chapters lately, and the anime’s adaptation of the Egghead Arc is keeping up nicely. Plus, it seems like there’s even more exciting content on the way for fans to enjoy.
The official One Piece X account hinted at a big announcement that will likely include details about the Egghead arc in the anime, a first look at the Elbaf Arc, and appearances by special guests. This announcement will be made during a One Piece panel at New York Comic Con on Friday, October 10th, at 12:45 PM Eastern Time.
A Big One Piece Anime Update Is On The Way
People are already guessing what will be revealed at the panel. Some are wishing for a new film, while others believe we might finally get news about WIT Studio’s long-awaited The One Piece anime. However, since this is a Toei Animation panel, that seems improbable. A few fans are hoping for an announcement regarding a God Valley movie adaptation, but considering the story is still unfolding in the manga and the anime hasn’t reached Elbaf yet, that’s likely not what will be shown.
The panel will likely share more about the current Egghead anime arc, as it nears its conclusion. This creates the possibility of finally seeing news about Elbaf. Toei Animation has promised fans a first look at the Elbaf anime adaptation, possibly through official artwork or a short video clip. While a clip would be incredibly exciting, it’s probably not something to expect.
Although the upcoming glimpse of Elbaf is thrilling, it might mean another break for the anime. The anime last paused in October 2024 and didn’t return until April 2025, a gap of six months. Now, a year later, fans may face a similar situation as Toei Animation tackles the difficult task of adapting what’s looking like a crucial story arc in the One Piece manga. However, this isn’t necessarily negative.
The last time there was a pause in production, Toei took the chance to improve the Fish-Man Island Saga, shortening the original 57 episodes to just 21. This not only made the story flow better, but also updated the visuals to match the look of newer episodes. If a similar break happens again, it would be logical to remaster the Dressrosa Saga next. However, that would be a much bigger project, as it’s about three times as long as the Fish-Man Island arc. Perhaps starting with the Punk Hazard Arc would be a more manageable first step.
Beyond all of that, we still need to know who the guest speakers will be. The official Toei account on X announced that Ian Sinclair, the English voice actor for Brook, and Madeleine Morris, the English voice actor for Lilith, will be present to discuss the Egghead and Elbaf Arcs. They will probably keep some of the guests a secret until the event itself. Considering season 2 is coming soon, it wouldn’t be surprising to see some of the One Piece live-action cast show up as well.
