Eiichiro Oda Officially Reveals A Big Part Of One Piece’s Ending

One Piece remains the most popular manga series globally, and its fanbase has grown significantly in recent years. Because fans have been dedicated to the story for so long, they are incredibly enthusiastic about any news regarding its creator. That’s why the recent Eiichiro Oda interview, which was released yesterday, caused such a buzz. Fans learned a lot of new details about Oda’s life, as well as more about One Piece itself.

Oda discussed the beginning of One Piece, specifically the ‘Romance Dawn’ arc, and shared his original vision for how the story would unfold from start to finish. While it may appear minor, this information could be a significant clue about the series’ ending and what will ultimately happen to the Straw Hat Pirates.

Oda Reveals a Huge Detail About One Piece’s Ending

  • The Story of One Piece Will End On The Ship
  • Oda Hints That The Straw Hat Pirates Will All Survive and Stick Together at the End

Eiichiro Oda recently gave a very detailed interview. Fans were eagerly waiting for it, and it lived up to the hype. The interview mainly covered Oda’s personal history and how he started his career as a manga artist, detailing his journey to becoming a professional. However, he also shared some intriguing hints throughout the conversation that might offer clues about how One Piece will end.

Eiichiro Oda has a clear vision for how One Piece will conclude. He’s been planning the ending for a long time, likely having a strong idea of the overall outcome since he created his Romance Dawn one-shot. As many fans recognize, Romance Dawn is essentially the original plan for One Piece, and the series we enjoy today is built heavily upon that foundation.

In this interview, Oda shared that he was short on time when he initially submitted his one-shot, but he had a clear idea: the story would start and finish on a ship.

I finally shared my secret project – a pirate manga – and created the first version of Romance Dawn (Ver. 1). Two years later, it appeared in a special summer issue (1996) and came in third place in a reader poll. […] This positive feedback really boosted my confidence, and I think it’s what led to the opportunity to have my work published in the main part of Jump. The challenge was intense: ‘We have space for a 45-page one-shot story, and if you can complete it from beginning to end in just two weeks, we’ll publish it.’ I accepted immediately! Naturally, my assistants and I worked incredibly hard for those two weeks, and that effort resulted in another version of Romance Dawn (Ver. 2). Because we didn’t have time to create a complex, sprawling story, I decided from the start to focus on a self-contained narrative that took place entirely on a ship.” – Eiichiro Oda

It’s easy to assume this won’t affect One Piece, but it’s important to consider the bigger picture. Eiichiro Oda has already decided how the story will end, and he’s revealed that One Piece will conclude on a ship. That would be a fantastic way to bring things full circle. This suggests the final scenes will take place on the Sunny, with the entire Straw Hat crew remaining united, rather than splitting up, as some fans fear. It also strongly implies that no members of the Straw Hat Pirates will die, which is welcome news.

When Will One Piece End?

One Piece Could Go On For 10 More Years

One Piece has been running for nearly three decades, and the story officially entered its Final Saga over two years ago with the Egghead Island arc. Despite being in its final saga, One Piece isn’t going to conclude quickly. Oda still has much to share and develop within the story, and considering his recent breaks, it wouldn’t be shocking if One Piece continues for another 10 years or even longer. The series’ ending remains quite distant.
